Two words? You must have gone to the

haha political humor......... yea i noticed my mistake a day after. As far as the you need an instructor goes although they help they are not completely necessary, all you need is a solid theory with some dedication and practice/repetition i mean that is how hogan developed the infamous 5 lessons.

I know you want advice from the low handicappers, but I think I can explain the drop at the top for you. People have told me to drop my hands right before I start the downswing to keep from hitting a fade. Works for some people but not for me maybe not for you either. What works for me is when I'm on the range practicing I go back in my backswing and pause for like a two or three second count. This makes me focus on a smooth transition from the backswing to the downswing. Sometimes on the course I will hold a little at the top just because it makes me more comfortable hitting solid. Hope this helps

Hi,

This is

EXCELLENT advise...this is what my coach and I have been working on since September...for some reason I want to control my swing with my arms (tension) and upper body (ex quarteback and volleyball player)...this causes me to over swing from the top and re-route (I hate that word) the club from the top...I am an 8 handicap because of a solid short game and my good scores come when my timing is really on in my full swing...not good enough to play at the level I aspire to...so my coach and I work really hard on the following and it is coming slowly: 1) Good set up (grip, posture and alignment) with soft right arm 2) Shorter backswings with soft arms (and grip) and good wrist cock 3) Think lower body with the entire downswing and leave the arms soft and behind Hope this helps...
