Yes I am legitimately scared about what could happen. By the end of his term, Bill gates will be living on the streets, and the guy in the shopping cart will own Microsoft.

I think even you know how ignorant this hyperbole of an analogy sounds. You can't expect others who are on the fence about who to vote for to take you seriously if you use flippant allegory.

Well sorry, I'm just saying anyone not making close to minimum wage, will at some point be taxed quite a bit more to help pay for the poor. Notice how we go from 250k to 150k. You watch, soon it will be 100k. It will just keep going down, till half the population is "rich."

And then when the panhandler becomes the richest man in America, he'll have every last cent wrung out of him to give to Warren Buffett, and the cycle will have come full circle.

The Biden 150k statement was most likely a slip-up...but the 200k part - I don't understand the misunderstanding. Wasn't it always 250k for families and 200k for individuals?

Not to incite a riot or anything

, but I have a feeling these debates won't stop (even after a winner is announced) until Tiger starts swinging a club again.

Under $200,000 = tax cut

$200,000-250,000 = no change Over $250,000 = tax increase (i.e. expiration of the Bush cuts)

Hoho! But there it is, notice how anytime Biden fumbles his words only 1 news station airs it, but when Palin buys some new clothes, that's on all of them.

The story was not that Palin spent $150k on clothes, the story was that $150k in campaign contributions may have been inappropriately spent on personal clothing instead of on the campaign. Without taking sides about the issue, it was a more substantive question than a speaking trip-up. Hell, misspeaking shouldn't even be brought up in serious political reporting, be the speaker Republican or Democrat.

Ugh ...

Anyone else noticing how the Obama "Rich" has gone from $250,000, to last night's infomercial of $200,000 to Joe Biden's $150,000. I'm getting richer by the moment, and Obama's not even been elected yet... jmoc

I just watched Obama's long commercial - - it says in the lower right coner, "Families making less than $200,000. So I stand by my earlier post of Obama lowering his figures. It's going down. And IMO it's still going to go a lot further down. Watch it sometime. It's on several times in the evenings. And don't tell me I don't know what I'm talking about. I know what I saw. I tried to find it on YouTube but it's not there yet. Maybe tomorrow.

--It's at 4:55 It's funny how very few people actually pay attention though. Kind of sad. Politics is just manipulating the dumb. Let's raise minimum wage so you can get more money!.. Except that only makes businesses raise prices, so it just creates inflation I'm with iacas though, can not wait until all of this ends. Don't know if it will be until January 20th though. God, can not imagine what it will be like on MNF with Berman interviewing Obama and McCain. Berman : So Obama, your tax cuts for the rich is going back, back, back, back, GONE!

Smallville, it's the same as its been. Look, go download the pdf of the tax plan and read it.

Families making $200k and under will see a tax cut Families making up to $250k will see their taxes remain the same Here it is: directly from the pdf from the website where it hasn't changed that I'm aware of: •Middle class families will see their taxes cut – and no family making less than $250,000 will see their taxes increase. The typical middle class family will receive well over $1,000 in tax relief under the Obama plan, and will pay tax rates that are 20% lower than they faced under President Reagan. According to the Tax Policy Center, the Obama plan provides three times as much tax relief for middle class families as the McCain plan. Indeed, according to the National Review, McCain’s plan “offers very little in the way of direct benefits to Americans in the middle of the income scale.” • Families making more than $250,000 will pay either the same or lower tax rates than they paid in the 1990s. Obama will ask the wealthiest 2% of families to give back a portion of the taxes they have received over the past eight years to ensure we are restoring fairness and returning to fiscal responsibility. But no family will pay higher tax rates than they would have paid in the 1990s. In fact, dividend rates would be 39 percent lower than what President Bush proposed in his 2001 tax cut. • Obama’s plan will cut taxes overall, reducing revenues to below the levels that prevailed under Ronald Reagan (less than 18.2 percent of GDP).iii The Obama tax plan is a net tax cut – his tax relief for middle class families is larger than the revenue raised by his tax changes for families over $250,000. Coupled with his commitment to cut unnecessary spending, Obama will pay for this tax relief while bringing down the budget deficit.

I agree will Smallville, it has decreased, no matter what you say. You say it's for families. The question was asked at what level are the "rich" going to be taxed. The answer was 200k. There were no butt-ins for singles or anything like that.

    • I have been debating getting a launch monitor of some sort, if only so I can re-figure my shot zones (I haven't actually mapped them in years) and also to practice distance wedges at home.  I have to see if this works with either my current setup, or what my setup would be if I move it to the garage.
    • Day 48, June 23.  After work today, I took 25 minutes in my practice room;  6-iron, same everything as yesterday except the time and count.
    • Well, this is interesting.  I think we discovered a few months ago that I haven't been following professional golf in a while (my confusion about Scotty's footwork confirmed that), so at least as I aim to follow a bit more I'll get something new to learn with all of you.  My very quick read of Erik's summary makes me think this new Challenger series fits somewhere between Korn Ferry and the Championship (not Champions, but I know I'm going to make that mistake a few times if I'm not careful!).   My recollection is that there were already second-tier events among the PGA Tour;  the Bob Hope didn't have the same quality of field as the event at Riviera (whose current name I forget, although now that I say that, I realize the Palm Springs event hasn't been called the Bob Hope in a few years either).   With the absence of the FedEx (if I'm reading that correctly), does that mean no more FedEx Cup at all? Hopefully I'll have time later in 2026 to sit down and see what we're in for in 2027, where one of my goals already is to follow more professional golf.
    • The highlights as I see them: Championship and Challenger Series The creation of the PGA Tour and the PGB Tour, in the words of Joel Dahmen a few years ago. They're calling them the Championship Series (23-24 events) and the Challenger Series (20+ events). Both run February to August. They feel this will achieve three things: increasing the consistency and quality of fields across the season creating a clear system for players to earn and retain status and delivering a more structured and competitive experience for fans and partners—all in an effort to strengthen meritocracy. Championship Series Structure and Eligibility The 23-24 events includes the Players, majors, season-ending events, and the Presidents Cup and Ryder Cup. These will be 72-hole events with a 36-hole cut to the top 65 and ties and purses of $20M+. 120 players without an alternate list. 90 players (roughly) from the previous year and 20 players promoted from the Challenger Series. Full eligibility will be finalized later this year. Sites (cities) to be finalized soon, but 10 of the 15 courses have already been determined. Postseason: includes retention and relegation and concludes with match play. The Tour Championship will also be played across a rotation of prestigious courses. Challenger Series Structure and Eligibility 20+ events. Running concurrently. Will feature players fighting their way back to the Championship Series or players graduating and on the upswing from the Korn Ferry Tour. Many of these events will be current PGA Tour courses. About 7 of the Challenger Series events will be during off weeks for the Championship Series with elevated purses and visibility. Purses of at least $4M, with cuts similar to the Champ series. 144 player fields. Competitive Fields for Both Series Players will be eligible for only one series at a time: Championship Series Players are not eligible for Challenger Series events. Championship Series members will have a known schedule with all events having the same eligibility. Players and Majors will have their own eligibility criteria. Championship Series players don't have to play all events. This begs the question about, say, the Canadian Open, and other "home-town" events that players might want to play, even if they're Challenger Series events. Will releases be granted? Promotion and Relegation At least 90 players will be retained in the Championship Series, and 20 players will be promoted from the Challenger Series each year. Battlefield promotion for two-time winners from the Challenger Series. Players relegated from the Championship Series will have a "last chance" opportunity to retain status, or will go to the Challenger Series. Criteria will be finalized before the start of the 2027 season. Points System New points system (not FedExCup points). Separate points systems for the Championship and Challenger Series. Elevated points in the Challenger Series for off-weeks on the Championship Series. More details tk. Elevated International Events in the Fall The fall schedule will include a limited series of elevated international events with top players from the Championship Series, with the intent to deliver in partnership with the DP World Tour as part of the Strategic Alliance. Last Chance Series The Tour will develop a “last chance” series of 4-6 events in the fall, with a limited number of spots on the Championship Series available for top finishers. Eligibility will include players relegated from the Championship Series, Challenger Series players, and other categories to be determined. Q-School continues, as do the Korn Ferry Tour and PGA Tour Latinoamerica. Also, Brian Rolapp is the new commissioner as of January 1, 2027.
