Do you really play better from the Whites than the Blues?

I find that I actually play better from the blues than the whites. I'm not really sure why since the blues are longer. I think it may be a mental thing with trying to get even *more* off the white tees to capitalize on the shorter distance. With the Blues I know I'm not going anywhere and relax more.

At my course, the distance from the par 4/5s aren't that big of a deal between the back tees and the middle tees. But, the Par 3s are generally 30yds back into some tough greens.

I generally add 2 or 3 shots from the back tees.

I do. Most of the time the distance or the slope from the back to the middle tees is more than my game can handle.

I hit more greens in regulation from the whites and usually have a lower score because of it. When I play from from tees that are longer than I can handle I don't hit many greens but hazards generally come into play less often (because I can't reach them).

I'd say normally I take more strokes (but not more than 2 or 3) when playing from the Back tees. But my home course isn't as penal as some that I've played. Although the course is 500 yards longer from the Blues, it doesn't really bring any more trouble into play, just leaves me with longer second shots, forces me to use driver on some holes where I otherwise might use a 3W or 4W. Since I make a lifestyle out of missing greens anyway, I'm not much worse off hitting approaches from 180 than I am from 140 or 150. I played the Blues 2 weeks ago and shot my best round of the month.... a nice 83, but the previous time I played them I stunk it up for an 89. But I could have just as easily done that from the Whites too, so ...

I've played the blues on my home course before.

One the par 4s and 5s, there was not too much difference. The holes played just slightly longer but the tee box was offset a bit. This difference came into play more on the dogleg left holes for me.

The par 3s on our course, though....it most assuredly made a difference. There is water in play on a few of them. One of the par 3s is a true island green that is simply a nasty hole. From the whites it can play anywhere from an 8 iron to a 4 iron for me (long tee, flag placement & wind). The blues simply make this meanie into an overbearing monster. I've developed a new tactic on this hole....simply aim for the middle and forget about the pin placement.

I haven't played off the shorter tees at my club enough recently to know what the difference would be. My long game is pretty good so as always its the short game that makes the difference, I don't know that there's that big a difference for me.

I'm sure it really depends on the course. Can't say that I've found a course where I play better from the back tees but there are several courses I play regularly where it doesn't really seem to matter if I play regular or champ. For sure, there are some courses where choosing the way back tee means a long day of struggle.

You'll be a "club" closer to the greens after you tee off. I usually shoot the same score from whites or blues.
