Charlotte Campbell and Camilla Mori (Highway 18 and Big Break X, respectively) each shot 225 for three rounds at the Duramed Futures Tour Qualifying Tournament, each missing the cut by one. Charlotte said in her blog that she should still qualify for every tournament next year based on her standing. I hope they come back to Kansas City this year. My wife and I may take days off work to watch her play (I assume they allow spectators?).

On a side note, has everyone purchased their wife or girlfriend some Blingo ball marks yet? My wife got two and loves them! http://www.blingoballmarks.com/Blingo_Ballmarks.html

They are very cool. I know they are focused on females, but I wish she could figure out a way to make some a little more manly. I'm all about "kind and gentle", but I just can't be the "Mr. Bling" of my foursome.

Yeah, I looked at those results the last two days of the event. Susan Choi of Big Break Ka'anapali also missed the cut by 1 shot.

The status categories are posted on the Duramed site in a PDF file. Charlotte should be okay. She was A-1 status this year, which meant automatically eligible for every event based on a Top 90 finish on the previous year's money list. This season she slumped to 116, but still has status in the 91-120 category. There are so many variables in the A through F categories it's kind of dizzying. Charlotte won't be assured of weekly status but the numbers game works in her favor. On her blog, she says she is driving the ball much better after "borrowing" a Ping driver from her college coach last week, but a few costly mistakes cost her, including a top/whiff while attempting a left handed shot in the final round. Camila opened with a 79. That seems to be her downfall, poor opening rounds. She rebounded to 73-73. Frankly, I don't like it that the cut is so low, at 90 players and ties among 312. In this case that allowed the final round to have lesser weight than it should have, since those players were all assured of at least partial status for 2009. Some of them relaxed or fell apart on the final day. There were two 81s and two 83s. Camila and Susan may not make it into all the events they want to play. But one criteria in that PDF does state that the players who failed to get partial status at Q School slot in the F category, and determined by order of finish, so at least they are ahead of players who really flopped at Q School. I posted the Duramed Q School results of Big Breakers and other Golf Channel reality program alumnae in the Big Break Michigan thread. Only Dana Bates of Big Break Ka'anapali and Perry Swenson of Road Trip: Myrtle Beach made the cut. They should be fully exempt for 2009. Bernadette Luse and Amber Prange of Big Break Michigan each missed the cut by several shots. Bernadette is trying a comeback after playing on the LPGA tour in 2005 and 2006.

    • Played Sunday and implemented the Mayo spinner. Hit my second shot long and left on three to a bare lie. I have seen this shot to a tucked pin but I don’t swing across it enough and hit it too far with a ton of spin but it rolled into the bunker. I pulled my approach short and left on ten to a horrible lie with about 3’ of rise to a tucked pin maybe 5’ on the green. Ball is in a damp lie with debris behind and in front of the ball. Hit it to 3.5’ but horseshoed the putt around the right edge, which was a common miss. I hooked my tee shot into an unplayable lie in the hazard on the left side of the par 5 16th. Hit a great recovery that rolled to about 45 yards short of the back right pin. Hit the spinner over a bumpy green that rolled just over the ridge to 3’. Sank the straight 2.5’ putt. Felt like I had good control of these shots!
