Hi everyone-

I have been taking lessons and have tried a couple of different instructors to get some varying opinions- My swing is fairly grooved and mostly I'm working on set up posture and position-

My question is:

one instructor with my driver has my arms more extended out toward the ball- With this I get more speed-

The other has me dangle my arms down as much as possible- This seems to really slow my down-

So what are you thoughts? Seems like extension with the driver and less with the irons is a trend I'm reading about.

Cheers,

DR

Extending your arms out toward the ball will not add speed, but it will give you able to swing as hard as you can from the top without waiting your arm to drop down because you stand further from the ball(1 plane swing). At the top your arms will be flatter.

Dropping your arms as mush as possible will, of course, seems slower because you have to wait for your arms to drop a little, then fire(2 plane swing). At the top your arms will be much higher than the above position.

I use the same setup for every club. My hands are the same this distance away from my belly from Loft wedge to Driver. The longer the club, more upright my pine will be. With this, I am be able to use the same tempo everytime. Just don't wanna ruin my tempo...

which position allows you to hit the ball straight? When I extend my arms out I always push the ball and when my arms are too close I will pull and sometimes hook the ball.

If you are right handed have your right arm closer to your body than your left arm.

    • I’m sad that no player got arrested this morning. It should be a feature now for every tournament.
    • Played around with this a bit. Not getting the spin up. This was even on a green that is pretty severely sloped towards me, clean lie, and a soft green. Maybe higher spin is just not my thing.
    • Why are they showing almost every shot by Theegala? Burmester also gets a lot of TV time. Then suddenly someone at +2 or -1 missing a putt. At least throw in a shot now and then from the others in the top 20.
    • Someone get Ted Scott on a plane!
    • I'll poke a dead horse here. I like chipping, always have. However, if its a relatively clean roll I'll putt. I choke down just a bit, in my head I'm taking a little flex out of the shaft seems to stay on line better because I usually need to give it some horsepower to get it rolling good. I had about a 20 yard or so chip in to save par the other night in league night. That was the end of my 4 hole even par stretch. All down hill after that.
