Ok, I am going nuts trying to figure out which Rife to purchase. I have spent so much time in the store that other customers are starting to think I work there. All of the models that I have listed seem to feel and perform the same to me. I would appreciate your thoughts on them. The models that I am looking at are:
  • Barbados Stainless
  • Barbados Black
  • Two Bar Hybrid Mallet (stainless)
  • Tour 2 Bar Hybrid Mallet (black)

If I were in the market for another putter, I'd be looking really hard at the Barbados black. It's similar to my Beasley and the black coating would fix my one minor complaint: occasional glare off the clubhead.

As for the two-bar hybrids, I am not a fan. Don't get me wrong, they work well. Personal preference. It's a combination of the look and the insert that kills it for me.

I don't really think you can go wrong.

If they all feel and perform the same then go for the cheapest one. If they are the same price then just close your eyes and pick one. I would choose the Barbados stainless, as mentioned it is similar to the now discontinued Mr.Beasley which was excellent. I believe Justin Rose uses the Barbados putter too.

It's just me, but I personally don't like the look of the 2-Bar Hybrids. I really like the look of the Barbados, but if It was up to me I'd look at the Island Series Antigua putter (it might not fit your liking since it's a blade rather than a mallet like all of your choices).

The Barbados models will be just a hair lighter I'm sure. I have a 2bar hybrid in stainless and a 2bar blade (older model). The looks of the 2bars don't bother me at all. Plus I like a little weight in my putters. The Barbados are nice. . .this is just going to be up to personal preference I think.

I have the Barbados black, and it is simply a stunning putter. It falls right between my Mizuno Bettinardi BC-3 and Mizuno Bettinardi C-04, f you are looking for a feel comparison.

As with others, I'm just not a fan of the two-bars. That said, it all really coms down to your personal preference, and for me, I really gotta love my putter - both esthetically and performance wise...

I can live with or without the 2 bar weights because I figure I will never change them. I guess the big difference is that the new 2 bar tour black has a plumbers neck while the other ones listed do not. Not sure if there is an advantage to it or not.

I went to Golf Galaxy on Christmas Eve to purchase a Tour 2 Bar Hybrid Mallet (black) but got cold feet because of the plumbers neck. Just not sure about it.

I think I will be going with the 2-bar stainless. It has little more weight and I am not sure the plumbers neck in the black one work work for me. .

    • Birdied #13 at Quail Brook, which is new. Blocked tee shot right which ended up being fine because I didn't hit it well enough to reach the fescue. Had 110 to the flag and was ready to hit a 3/4 GW to it (even tagged the club) but felt the wind pick up behind me so I decided to club down to the SW and hit it to 4'. Lipped out a 15-footer on #17 for birdie for a tap-in par that also would have been new.
    • I've had a couple of good shots since the last time I posted, 1 a 90 yard approach that I manufactured with my gap wedge that I knocked to about 18 inches, 1 a ~140 yard 8 iron that I got to about 3 feet (pictured), but this week my best shot was a 60 yard pitch. It wasn't anything special but I did hit it out of a divot, so that's what I'm more proud of. Plus, i didn't really have any memorable shots this week.
    • Just a  follow up, I had the best lessons ever on gears with the best instructor! Wish I would’ve made the drive earlier in the year but put it together during a golf trip. Gears was incredible to see your swing in 3d with all the necessary data. I’ve had very few formal lessons in the past and a couple online but nothing compared to working with Erik. He made it  very comfortable and relaxed, patient with all my  questions and showed some swing comparisons of pros swings.    Our main focus was getting the pelvis to move in a better pattern and when he first pushed on my hip with that pvc going back it was like a “wow” moment. And to see the affects in real time just made it quicker to adapt and learn how to find it again, however, even without gears I’m sure it would’ve been an awesome lesson..it’s just nice for some players to see the facts, no debate… At the end of the 1st session I was shocked at the video seeing my pelvis move better, hips open, no early extension. I was literally like I can’t believe that video capture is me! I’m glad I had a second session the following morning, just to reinforce the earlier ideas and work on the next piece to complete the movement, and we still had plenty of time to mess around with lower priority ideas for later. I left that afternoon armed with a practice plan, he took extra time to show me what to look for on my own video and I got a copy of LSW. We’ll continue on evolvr for checkups until another road trip for sure! I also just ordered the stack system with his discount code to work on some speed training as well.    Just wanted to share my appreciation for all Erik’s help and anyone finding there way here like I did over the winter to give it a try!
    • Day 8. Did a bit of setup and backswing work but hip is not ready to swing yet.
