Carry Bag

Sorry for another thread but i need advice on a good carry bag. I was thinking Sun Mountain or Ogio but open to any suggestions. Thanks for the input.

I am EXTREMELY satisfied with my Nike Pro Combo Tour bag. It is the same as the Sasquatch Tour Stand Bag.
It has a 14 divider, the leg mechanism is good, and it is really sturdy.
Also the pockets are big enough and it has nice features, like this ball access pocket, and a patch of fabric, where you can attach the velcro part of the glove or putter cover.

I carry with the Mizuno Aerolite bag, Its well thought out light weight at 3.5 lbs. I would recommend it to anybody especially if you are playing Mizuno irons like yourself.

After caddying and golfing some 300+ rounds in the past 3 years, I can say that my favorites are PING, Ogio, Titleist, and Sun Mountain.

PINGs are just sweet. The straps are great, they're light, and they last forever. The bag's stand looks like the bag might tip, but it rarely does. The dividers are above average, but most bags don't have full length dividers. I'm not too sure about storage of valuables, balls, etc. PING offers many models, so anyone can find one that fits his or her needs. These bags are IMO the best on the market. Buy it if money is not an issue.

Ogios have great dividers. I'm not a hug fan of every club getting its own divider, but I like having a good number. The Woode system is great. It has its own putter well...fewer and fewer bags have this and it's wonderful. Plus, there are many full length dividers. The straps are pretty good, but not as good as the PING. The Ogio that I have (in my sig) is very light and the legs seem a bit flimsy. They're fine. The Ogio Grom is a bit heavy for my taste, but it is very sturdy. Storage in my bag is great; there is a spot for everything you could imagine. I recommend these if you want to save some money (buy last year's models).

Titlesist makes quality products...plain and simple. Straps are good. Storage seems good. The bags are super light. However, I don't like how many of the newer ones have only 4 dividers. It seems like clubs can get lost. Seeing as most Titleist bags are about $20 cheaper than PINGs, I would say buy the PING instead.

Sun Mountains are super light. I just can't find where else the bags stand out. That cool handle they have to put the bag down is nice. You can find bags that are cheaper, just as light, and have better features.

As for the Nike bags, I don't like the 14 separate dividers. It's a cool idea, but if you're walking, I don't think it makes it any easier. I think it makes it harder because you have to find which spot it goes into...it can be a hastle.

I have only used a Mizuno bag a couple of times. The dividers are good, but the straps seemed very flimsy...like the bag was going to fall off my shoulder.

Post any other questions you may have. I have probably used every walking/carrying bag that you can think of.

I agree, a seperate putter well is (would be) nice.
Especially when carrying I would like to have the putter well out of the way of the irons.
I was not able to find such a carry bag when I was buying.

I have an Ogio and like it a lot; good dividers, sturdy, good carry straps. Has held up better than my Sun Mountain.

i have an Ogio Grom and like it a lot. but i wish i would've bought the Sun Mountain MPB instead. the only reason for this is because i am never happy with what i have, lol. but the Grom is a well made bag and it has plenty of room. and the putter well and little touches like the zipperless ball pocket and the strap to use on riding carts to keep the bag in place are pretty cool

I love my Ogio. The features are awesome. The water bottle holder is a very nice feature. The scorecard and pencil holders are great ideas. The valuables pouch has a cell phone holder. The ball holder on the outside is awesome. There is plenty of storage in other places for tees, ball markets, divot tools, balls, etc.

The bag is very light. The straps are good. They're confortable and can easily be carried with the two strap system. I think the best feature is its club storage. The Woode system is great IMO. It separates clubs, but does not have too much separation. You can easily find the proper section that your club should go it...unlike 14 club dividers. Grips rarely get caught together because of the full length dividers. The putter well is plenty large. You could even fit your driver in there too. When you put the bag down, it doesn't hurt your hand. Some Callaway (and other bags) hurt your hand when you put the bag down. The plastic inside cuts your hand. With the Ogio, I do not have this problem. It is not as good as Sun Mountain's grip handle thing, but it is good enough. The stand is a bit flimsy when you're walking. The legs do not fully retract. They hang about two to three inches from the bag. It's not a huge problem. When the bag is "standing," if you shake the bag, it wobbles. However, I have not found any problems with it falling over. I read a review that said Ogio had to make the stand this way in order to cut weight. I bought mine for under $90 from TGW in October of 2008. If you can find one for that price, buy it without a doubt. It's a great value and a top quality bag...everything you want in a golf bag. I think the new models are about $150. They may not be worth it since you can buy a PING for like $30 more. Feel free to ask other questions about any bag...I have used them all.

Okay i think i have narrowed it down to two bags the Ogio Ozone and the sun mountain 3.5. Do you have any experience with the sun mountain? If so can you compare it to the Ogio? Thanks a lot and sorry for all your trouble.

Sun Mountains are light. I don't think that it has any features that set it apart from other bags though. Other bags are almost or just as light. I think the club dividers are adequate, but not great. The handle for putting the bag down is a really good idea, but the Ogio does a pretty good job at that anyway.

The legs are more sturdy that the Ogio Ozone and they have rubber on the bottom. If you put your bag on tile or another slick surface, the bag will still have traction. As for its pockets, I haven't had much experience with it. I can tell you though, that it does not have as many cool features as the Ozone. If you are going to shell out $150 for the Sun Mountain, IMO you would be better off spending another $20 or 30 for a PING. Either way, I couldn't justify spending that much on a golf bag. I have always wanted a PING, but the Ogio does almost as good of a job...and it's only $90. Ask away if you have any more questions.

These are great bags but I walk ALOT in the summer(i play 10-12 hrs a day 5 days a week in the summer). These would be too heavy seeing that it is at least 1.5 pounds than than the Ogio and Sun Mountain.

just an fyi, sun mountain makes titleist golf bags, so whatever model you like for sun mountain usually has a titleist that is the same.

Right now i am using a titleist stand bag, its very nice and the srtaps are amazing...very sturdy. The storage is not the greatest, which is why i would prefer the PING hoofer. These are great bags, and will last longer than any other stand bag. All the college and high school teams use them, so you have probly seen them before. I am going to be getting mine soon, b/c im on the team at my hs...I would reccomend these over anything else.

Yep, Sun Mountain makes the Titleist bag... I really like mine, legs are sturdy, lightweight, plenty of pockets... Bought mine on TGW for $89 as a "blemished" bag... Couldn't find a blemish when I received it... Figured after a couple of rounds it would be blemished anyway

I have the Ogio Grom and have some problems with it.I do not like the zipperless ball bag as I like to carry a lot of balls and the damn thing does not close all the way.The zippers are plastic and thus get a little sticky in colder weather.I also find it hard to adjust the straps to keep it comfortable.Overall if I had to do it over again I would have saved my money which was 150.00 which is not cheap.
