Hello I am the new guy here and I was thinking of buying a 905R. Do any of you have a review of this club? If so could you please share with me your thoughts on this club compared to the 9050T

The early word is this: the R is a bigger T that hits the ball a little further. Get the R in the same shaft and loft that you have now with the T and you'll be fine.

I will have my 905R with Speeder 757 X-stiff on April 5th. I will post review after that. I am currently using 905T so, I am hoping the R will be as good if not better.

I like mine with the vst pro shaft. Not as long as some other 460's but pretty straight. I went to a 10.5 for control and still have a ping G5 knock off with a great shaft in 8.5 degree laying around if needed for more juice. Some say the set up is closed but I don't see it

I have played mine for about 3 weeks now. I love it. It is straight and really long. If you get one you will love it.

OK ... wow. Just "upgraded" from a 983k to this 905r. Lets put it this way, I signed up for this website just to write a review on this driver.
My 983k was great, but when got this big boy, "with the Speeder Shaft" I was kind of shocked.
Bottom line: I fade the ball. Some may even call it a slice. This thing goes freakin straight. And long...way long. I think it's the way it's weighted. Who knows. What I do know is that I BOMB THIS THING.

Highly recommend this club! I had previously used other brands along with a 983K, then tried the Nike Ignite 460 (so, so..), then tried Taylor Made's TP R7 (hated it...), and finally settled on the 905R. Quite simply, one of the longest and easiest driver I've tried!! Did not disappoint at all...

No offense, but reviews like this are useless. I for one didn't like the 905R because it's closed. I love the TM TP r7 because it's square (and all the details each of those entail).

Telling people why you like or dislike something is a good thing.

Erik, how closed is the R compared to the non-TP r7's? I'm wondering what it is like compared to the 460 I'm using.

I'll have to go look at them side by side. I'll do that now...

I think the 905R is a degree or so more closed than the TM 460. If the TM 460 is 2 degrees closed, the 905R is 3. But the Titleist is no more than 4... so if the TM is 3 then the Titleist is 4, but if the TM is 1 the Titleist is probably 2. I wasn't going left like crazy with the TM (granted, I put all the weight in the toe, but that's supposed to make it neutral again), but the R was left-happy. Why? Can't adjust the weights back... it's probably slightly heel-weighted naturally. Neither are nearly as bad as the HiBore.

I sent Titleist an email last week asking something to effect of "When is Titleist going to make a 460cc driver that is square when laid flat at address and then said how I hit 10 or so balls with my 975J straight and long then 30 seconds later hit the "demo" 905R and the first 3 were low duck hooks until I physically laid it open." They responded saying that the 905R is square and is built for the better player in mind and that there Cobra line is game improvement club and has a slightly closed face. I didn’t know Titleist owned Cobra but anyway it was just a demo model and maybe Ill try another somewhere else but I cant see how it would be different, a 905R is a 905R unless your DLIII or Ernie and had it custom built right. I swear that thing is closed, it’s a great driver don’t get me wrong but I cant spend 400 bucks on something I have to lay open....Am I crazy and just seeing things?

I did switch to the 905R with the Speeder shaft. I find it to be one of the easiest drivers to hit. I am surprised on the distance that I can get out of it. I have always been a long hitter and had no idea how long I could be until I started hitting this club. I have been getting custom fitted for my drivers for the last few years at all sorts of different golf shops. I switched from an SMT O2 w/ a XS Accufles V2 shaft to the 905R and I gained distance. This driver imparts less sidespin for me and gives more carry. I am amazed at what I have been doing with it and won't be shoppijng around for a long time.

The face is square on the 905R. If you read the specs, you will see that the face is not 5* closed.

Yeah, not according to a clubfitter to which I took the club. Mine's a few degrees closed and internally weighted pretty well towards the heel.

Titleist will always say that their drivers are square. It's all in how you measure. We're only talking about two or three degrees here.

Yeah, not according to a clubfitter to which I took the club. Mine's a few degrees closed and internally weighted pretty well towards the heel.

It only makes sense as a clubmaker to make your drivers slightly closed and weighted on the heel. Most amateurs fight the banana ball to the right and need that additional help to close the face.

      Kind of reminds me of my first driver - a TM R580 at a whopping 400cc.  Still have one in the stable - and like to hit it on occasion.  Makes me wonder if the Mini-drivers of today are a testing ground to drivers of tomorrow of the powers that be opt to roll back driver head size in conjunction to the ball roll back to limit the overall distance.  I’ve not done a lot of research on shot distances between the mini and regular drivers, but figured there is some.  Will be something to follow as the mini-driver unfolds.

      I agree with you, at least in regards to myself and playing. I can't really speak much for others. I assume that some people who are playing golf very often can notice more drastic differences. That being said, I do notice some differences here and there and sound and feel definitely have some say in which ball I end up liking. But that seems more psychological than physical. I've only been playing golf regularly for a year now and I'll play almost any ball since I often lose balls. However, since I've been able to get out once a week for a while now, I am down to losing only about 2-3 balls from losing 10-14 per round. Which feels huge for me and so I've begun to narrow down the balls I choose to play with. I've gone through a box of Vice Pro Plus, Vice Pro, Sugar, Titleist DT Trufeel and Kirklands. Bought a bucket of 350 used balls which had a majority of Srixon Soft Feels in there. I decided to give the Soft Feels a try and have really been enjoying them quite a bit. Only yesterday did I hit a Pro V1 for the first time and it felt quite nice. However, that all being said, I have to admit, I've played my best overall with Vice Pro Plus balls. I get the most distance from these balls and am able to hit them quite well. I am not sure on green side spin/grip, I think I'd prefer them to check up a bit more. But I believe one really big factor for me with these balls is that I usually club down when hitting them because I gain so much distance off of them and I also tend to bring my swing speed down which causes me to have a more accurate swing and ball strike. As opposed to trying to whack the snot out of the ball each time, which ends up in a slice 75% of the time. I do love testing out new balls though, sound and feel is always fun to experience.

      I am in the same boat, I'd love to test a LAB OZ but nobody here has them either and I've never seen one played on any courses I've been on. Nor can I afford/commit to blindly buy something at this price and not know how it works for me. I've been playing a cheapy $60 Wilson Harmonized M1 for a long time and was looking at new putters but the price of a new putter is really off-putting. Thankfully I played in a tournament in November and ended up winning a brand new Taylormade TR B31. Will probably be playing this for a few years until I get to try something like the LAB OZ and once it's been discounted if I like it.
