I seen the weirdest thing today, a golfer at the driving range had a set of Callaway BB irons, with the same exact length shaft in every club, from the 3 iron all the way through his wedges. He said he ordered them like that, and it is supposed to increase your accuracy by 40%, because you are able to repeat the exact swing regardless of what club you have in your hands. Anyone ever seen this before? I have never heard of it. It actually makes sense though....

edit: There is actually a companys website I just found that offers this!

I saw a video the other day with a semi-pro that uses same length club, I never saw any body using them on the course or any PGA members playing with same length clubs.

The difference in distances between in a standard club set (say 3h to PW ) is the loft AND shaft length.

So, by having all irons with the same shaft length, you only have your loft to give you different distances. You would need four or five more clubs in your bag to cover the same overall gap you now cover between your 3h and PW.

Please don´t swing while I´m talking !!

I went back and read some feedback posts on the websites forum by individuals who had purchased these irons. Most of them reported little or no distance loss, and actually distance gains for the 7 iron through the wedges. They reported minimal distance loss from the 6 iron to the 3 iron. The reasoning is that to begin with, they actually hit the wedges farther than before, due to the set is usually fitted with every club fitted with a shaft the length of what previously was in your 7 or 8 iron. Also, the supposed efficency of a single swing and improved accuracy offsets the shorter shaft.

Again, I dont agree or disagree with either argument, as I have no idea how they perform. They apparently work for some, there are also people on the forum who weren't as pleased with them, so like anything else, they dont work for others. It is a novel idea however, wish I had thought of it!

I had never heard of this or even thought of it but I can understand the thinking of using the same length for a repeatable swing. A couple more things I wonder about however. What length is chosen for all of the irons? Do they go with all clubs at 3I length or is everything set to a 5 or 6I length. Either way I could see some difficulties in the repeatable swing idea because of the changes in weight. A PW for example with a 3I length would have a much heavier swing weight comparable to the other irons while a shortened 3I would have a much lighter than the wedges in the same set. I would think this would take away from the accuracy you're trying to achieve by using the same length. I guess it may work for a grip it and rip it type of player but I think a tempo player would struggle with such a set of irons.

No, they make the sets with the shaft from either a 7 or 8 iron, depending on the individuals height, and all the heads are made to weigh exactly the same. Thats supposedly one of the biggest positives about the system.

So... if all clubs are set with the shaft length of a 7 or 8 iron, it now means that you lose distance with your 3-6 irons and gain distance with your 8-PW irons,

Just do this and try. Put your 3 and 7 irons together. Grip down on your 3 iron as much as needed as if you had your 7 iron. Go ahead and hit it. Measure how much shorter it goes than if you grabbed it normally.

hence my point... you end up condensing your overall gap length of a standard set.

... i don´t see it... and neither do the pros. Try to find one that is doing this.

Who said pros? No one ever said the pros are doing it. It is obviously not designed for the pros, it is designed for mid to high handicappers who are willing to sacrifice distance to gain accuracy. Again, like anything else, it will work for some and have less than desireable results for others. I am just stating what the users on the websites forum have posted on their findings, argue with them if you have your doubts.

I might have seen something like this over 10 years ago. It might be the same company. Back then they measured everything to the length of a 6 iron.

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

Hmm, that sums up the idea.

I could never imagine hitting a pw, from that position, I think it would be nothing like a pw trajectory.
