The Golf Channel is celebrating it's 10-year anniversary today. By my count, in those 10 years, they've showed just over 100 hours of original programming! Congratulations, Golf Channel!

No, but seriously, I do sometimes wish they had a few more original shows. I don't want a Balance bracelet, anything by the HAMMER, f2 wedges, etc.

My favorite shows include the Grey Goose 19th Hole (I wish it was 90 minutes and included actual caller interaction, not pre-recorded calls), The Big Break, Playing Lessons, What's in the Bag, and their LPGA coverage.

I remember back in 1995 when The Golf Channel launched. I wanted it badly, but I wondered how they'd fill the hours. I still wonder how they're going to fill the hours, but picking up coverage of the LPGA, the Nationwide Tour, and (grrr) the Champions Tour will provide them with some material, I suppose.

When I was living in Florida, I was offered a job with The Golf Channel, but that was about two weeks before I moved back here to PA to be with Carey. Oh well...

What's your Golf Channel story? Do you watch it? When did you subscribe? What do you like?

Oh, one other thing: I am so glad that I didn't watch much Golf Channel when Peter Kessler was on it! I saw that he hosted a number of shows during their "10-year anniversary" show tonight (which, undoubtedly, they'll re-run about 30 times in the next week).

As a guy that's had cable TV since a wee lad, it's really hard to believe TGC has been around for 10 years. But I guess it has?

Anyway, last year was the first year I started watching. Playing Lessons from the Pros is great. I love hearing insight to the mental side of the great's game.

Hate Golf Channel Academy. I don't need those loser's tips. I don't need anyone's tips for that matter. Blanket information on the golf swing can't be good.

Shell's World of Golf is great.

Last week they had some classic tournaments playing, with Palmer and Player and Nicklaus each playing each other. That was fun to watch.

19th hole is alright, they have some funny insight, sometimes.

I suppose as long as its golf being played, I'll watch it. I can due without the instruction shows, and of course, all the damn paid programing.

The re-runs or in general? I kinda like it in general. The fact that they re-run it a billion times bugs me. They do that to all their shows, though...

I haven't gotten to watch it nearly as much as I'd like, and not enough to form an opinion for sure. I wanted it badly and was shocked when I stumbled upon the news that DirectTV had added the channel here recently. Before I would have had to pay $12/month for a group of channels just to get it, but now it's part of my regular programming. I'll get around to watching more TGC in the near future, I hope.

I'm in the same boat as Aaron. I don't watch it at all, really. It's part of my "extended cable" offering from Cox so it's always been there for me as long as I can remember. The only thing I've ever really tuned into on purpose was Big Break II and big tournament coverage like post-game on the Players or any of the majors.

Maybe I'll try to make a point to catch some of these programs people are mentioning, Playing Lessons From The Pros, etc.

Hooked On Phonics Worked For Me!

with the amount of commercials (and infomercials) they stuff in it's really unwatchable. Even being a complete golf nut I turn to it only when there is NOTHING else to watch. I know one have to pay the bills, but it's sickenin'. I'm spoiled by the satelite TV I guess, can't handle comercial TV anymore

    • Here is one of my swings where I made what felt like good contact. This isn’t a full speed swing but maybe it should be because a big fault of mine is over swinging. So what im working on is, from A4 my first move has been hands going out toward the ball. This seems to have caused tons of inconsistencies for years. I’ve just made it work with decent hand eye coordination, I guess. Like I said previously, the swing thought/feel is from A4, the lead arm/hands drop down and back to start. Then I feel like my hands get as close to my quads as possible. I’ve never come close to this because my brain never believed contact could be made from there.   Also, this all began when I decided to get the early extension and flipping out. Overall goal is a consistent swing and ball flight and get into some tournament play and get competitive in my club championship.  Hope I get this right, I haven’t done it in a while.        Disregard the pants…I got hot in the garage..😀 I also thought I clicked the audio off on the video but obviously did not.
