I'm talking about lessons. Do you prefer 1/2 hour lessons or 1 hour lessons? Why?

I will be taking lessons again. I'm not sure whether I should take 1/2 hour or full hour lessons. Full hour lessons utilize video swing analysis. Thanks.

I'm taking 1/2 hour lists and it goes by way too quick. I'd go for an hour, but this was a Christmas present.

I'd go for full hour. You actually focus more on the task at hand if you take 1/2 hour lessons, but it doen't help has much

depends on what the pro has you working on... i like a 1/2 hr cuz you dont get overloaded with info to work on... 1/2 an hour on a specific thing... then you work on it for an hour or 2 of practice... but if an hour has vid analysis included... video helps sooo much to see yourself and what you are/should be doing

Personally I think that a good pro can isolate a problem, work you through it, and give you a drill or two to help you practice the change correctly with in 1/2 hour. If it takes him longer than that, then I question his either his ability or his approach.

That or he's just trying to suck more money out of you. I've never been much for lessons... I think I've had 4 half hour sessions in the last 25 years, but in each case a half hour was all that was necessary to address the issue I was having.

I have had one 1/2 hour lesson, but it included video analysis. I was not a huge fan of the teacher though. So, I am going to try another guy.
I am also looking at a series of lessons (6). I figure we could cover more than one thing during a full hour. Like 1/2 hour full swing, 1/2 hour putting (I'm horrendous at it!) Or is that not how it would work?

depends on how fast you can adapt to the lesson... me i like to focus on specifics and work on one thing at a time... if im attempting to correct multiple things it tends to frustrate me

haha, the title of this thread made me laugh.

for me i like the 1/2 hour lesson. Before i go to my lesson, i call my pro and let him know what i have been struggling on. He plans a lesson on what we can do, and when i arrive we spend the next 1/2 hour JUST working on that. This way i can really concentrate on improving that specific weakness. I prefer this, because during hour lessons, i usually work on multiple things which is not as helpful.

I just started taking lessons and I prefer 1-hour with one task. If you catch on quickly to the task you get a good 30-minutes of positive re-enforcement while you practice with immediate feedback.

Plus if you start to go astray during that period you get the immediate feedback to get you on track.

Plus there is time to stop and take notes and you don't feel rushed if you are not getting something.

Of course you have to not be in a hurry or attempting to maximize your value out of the time with the pro. I am currently set up for lessons for the next year in a lesson on Saturday one week then two weeks of practice rotation. So it is easier for me to focus on a single task knowing the commitment I have made to myself.

If you're talking video lessons I think 1 hour is better than 1/2 hour. There's just not enough time to devote to taping, then analyzing the tape, in half an hour.

If you want non-video, half hour is the way to go. Anything longer and there is a tendency to start to work on too many things. The half hours I give have a nice flow to them.
