cally ft 2008 versus ft-i squareway woods

I am in the market for a new 5 wood and looking for some opinions from those who have hit the callaway ft 2008 5 or 4 wood and the ft-i squareway 5 wood. Thanks in advance for your opinions.

With your handi, I say go for the square, it'll help with being more forgiving and straighter.

if you can keep it in play from your drives, the sqware will help you keep it in the short stuff on your second shot.

Just curious why are you switching? At a 28.8 you won't see pretty much any difference between those. Your clubs are fantastic.

I think because I am such a high handicap that I cant really hit these clubs as good as i would like. I rarely hit the 3 wood even though I practice with it at the range all the time. When I analyze my game play, its my long/mid irons and woods that kill my game. I dumped the long irons (3 and 4)for TM hybrids and couldnt hit them to save my life. I switch out those out for TM 2008 models and still no luck. I was beginning to think that I was not just a hybrid person.

Then I hit a cally ft hybrid and my game got a bit better. Because I am not a strong hitter (carry my driver about 210) I decided to replace my long irons with cally ft hybrids and added a wedges so I could focus on distances that I could hit and control (under 100 yards). So here are my numbers (carry yardages): wedges 100 yards and in 9i 110 8i 120 7i 130 6i 140 5i 150 4h 160 3h 170 5 wood 185 Driver 210 My 5wood, although carries me about 200 yards is very inconsistent and gives me a duck hook that I cant shake. On par 5's I use it on my second shot and if the fairway is large enough I get away with Par. If not, it hooks into the abyss and I am looking at a snowman. So, I am thinking if I get a replacement 5 wood that helps get rid of my hook (I dont hook any of my other clubs, if anything I slice my longer irons) then I'll be able to start dropping my score. At any rate, if anyone has any suggestions, please feel free to let me have it! As a newbie, I am willing to listen.

the square might help you out. the two clubs are a little different. when i demoed the FTI Squareway 3wood, it kinda felt cheap. it wasn't meants for my handicap or skill level. i've never tried the 2008 FT. take a ride to your local shop and demo em for yourself its the only way you'll get true answers.

My FT 4-wood is great. Penetrating, mid-height ball flight. I have a feeling these may be geared to players with higher swing speeds though.

The only negative I've heard about the Squareway (I love the name) is that it's more difficult to hit off fairway then more traditional shaped woods. Since you're looking at 5W, this could be a problem. I have only hit it at golf store off mats on simulator. I like the way it feels and sounds, but I can see the point about hitting it off turf. The club is a little wider and flatter on bottom, so it might be more difficult to make good contact unless ball is sitting up a little.
