I need some good book recommendations on the mental game.

This is what I would recommend, especially for initial read.

Rotella is definety good. As an alternative I really liked 'How Great Golfer's Think' which was reviewed on this website last year.

http://thesandtrap.com/tvmedia/how_g...nk_book_review

The book takes the form of a story where a coach delivers lessons to 4 players. The story is pretty terrible but the lessons themselves are excellent - simple and very clear. I think I probably learned more from this than from any Rotella book.

Driver - RAM FX V

Irons - Titleist DCI 4-PW
Wedges - Cleveland CG10, 52, 56, 60 degree

I actually haven't read the original Rotella book (I know, I'm ashamed to admit it). I actually enjoy the Cohn book "Peak Performance Golf" more than the Rotella books. Not b/c Rotella is bad, but I think a lot of it "fluff." Kind of the equivalent of "pop psychology." Not bad, just gets repetitive after a while.

I enjoy Peak Performance Golf because he really ties in the mental game to all other parts of the game. How to practice, how to get the most out of practice, mentally preparing and playing competitively, the importance of nutrition, fitness, etc. I suppose it might be geared towards a person who really wants to play seriously (me, I suppose...trying over the next two years to progress and pass my PAT and get a degree in PGM), but I appreciate how Cohn incorporates all facets of the game.

But, Rotella is good to. You can get all these used off of amazon.com for dirt cheap.

I really enjoyed Fearless Golf by Gio Valiante. An easy read that makes a lot of sense.

I'd start with golf is not a game of perfect, if you need to go a little deeper then move to Rotella's other books. This was a real eye-opener for me, very helpful and simple advice.

Really good:

The Inner Game of Golf by W. Timothy Gallwey.

from Amazon.com Review
"Long before Dr. Bob Rotella made tweaking a golfer's head as important as tweaking his swing, Tim Gallwey, who knew virtually nothing about the mechanics of the game when he penned the first edition of this visionary work, understood that even the best technique collapses when the mind cracks under the game's pressure."
