I am in the market for new hybrid but seems like 909H is not much of a talk in the forum. Anyone tried this and can give some honest feedback? How does it play off the tee/on the fairway?

Sound, feel, flight, etc?

Comparison to 585H because I didn't really like the 585H.

Shaft choice for this head whether it be stock or custom. (Especially those who play the likes of Diamana White or Prolaunch Red for their drivers and fairway) Thanks.

I got my 21* 909h for Christmas w/ a standard Diamana blueboard. I have only gotten to hit it once at the range. I love it. No duck hooks(I had a burner which was a hook monster ). Over all I love it I can work the ball and its not really that hard to hit. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps good luck .

It should be an improvement over the 585, the only gripe I've gotten from my 585 is the lack of feel, but that could just be me. I've heard they fixed this on the new one.

ive tryed all the hybrids out there, and the 909 is HOTTTT.
its just too expensive for my cheap self.

What do you guys the main reason for 909H receiving a Silver instead of Gold in GD Hot List? Performance and feel was given only 4 stars. Without being biased, do you guys think that it is really a silver?

I honestly thought that 585H didn't deserve a silver even in the past GD Hot List...

Honestly... I think Golf Digest Hot List is a bunch of BS. It is more or less a paid advertisement. Yes there are alot of good clubs on the list but not all clubs are treated equal when it comes to the Hot List... do you really think that Scratch and Miura wedges arent in the top 10? Why isnt there any Bridgestone clubs on their list?

Take the hot list with a grain of salt... go hit a bunch of clubs and the one that performs best for you gets a gold star.

Yup, I do agree to what you are saying about the Hotlist, but I do think they rate the clubs quite fairly. Miuras are very hyped in the US but in Asia (and Japan) we don't regard it as super high end club (don't get me wrong, because they are great clubs). Miura did a smart thing to make the "mysterious" Japanese forging and bringing it to the US. I think Bridgestones were on the last issue of the Hotlist if I am not mistaken (2008) and compared to this year's line up, I did think that J36 were less performers (don't know if this is the right word because they are good clubs also). G10s I personally believe really deserved to be on Gold again... Anyway, the point I was trying to make is not to determine whether the Hot List is legit but why 909H received less points compared to the other hybrids. I just wanted to find out that specific reason...

Sorry, I am drifting away from my own main topic. Lets get back to 909H thread. Thanks for your replies so far.

Go hit it and see for yourself, as anything we saw will probably be subjective. I think the hot list is bs, as pretty much any club on it has all positives, no comments like impossible to work, or crappy distance, or sprays all the way. I agree with the people that say it is an advertisement.

I've hit several lofts with the voodoo shaft and i found it pretty easy to hit. I really liked the weight of the club. If possible, try out some different lofts. I found that i liked some trajectorys over others

Would love to try but I can't get my hands on any demo for now... How does 909H compare in terms of feel to 585H? I personally felt 585H were quite dead in terms of feel...

what i would do is wait until the equipment issue of Golf Magazine comes out. The y have the good and bad aspects of each club. as well as good and bad feedback from testers. But it all comes down to if you like like it. In all honesty, some people just get clubs to say, "oh i have such an such club," even if they cant hit it worth a crap. It all comes down to if U not GD gives it a gold star.

    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.
