The only thing I do differently in this case (and it has happened, just not on a golf course) is to briefly count the money and look for a license. I'll jot all that info down and then turn it into the proshop. I'll casually let them know in the shop how much money was in the wallet so that they know that I know how much is there. I'll then try to contact the owner of the wallet myself and let them know I found it and what I did with it. Far too often wallets get turned in but when it gets back to the rightful owner all the cash has disappeared along the way.

That is an excellent way to handle these situations!!!!!

That's more disturbing than the deer carcass I found during a round. It was maybe a a day or two old, barely off the fairway easily within 50 yards of the green on a par 5. Talk about nasty. Thing reeked. But at least it was whole.

Well working all summer at the local golf course I have found many interesting things but these top my list:

1. six clubs on one hole! who loses half their bag and doesn't notice
2. skycaddie
3. wallet
4. $100!!!
5. Head covers
6. Putter
7. sunglasses
8. car keys
9. Cigars
10. cell phone

On one of our annual Vegas adventures, my friend lost a wedge. We went back the next YEAR and it was sitting in the proshop.

I found a Blackberry once. I replied to a few of the latest emails explaining the situation and had the guy call me on my cell.

I've lost at least 3 puttercovers.

He's been in there a while.

one time I found a strapon in the weeds.

Swear.

I couldnt believe my eyes.......maybe it was some retarded bachelor party joke or something.

I've found a sand wedge, and my friend (who said he'd turn it in) kept it and sold it. And I've found an Ignite headcover which I just left since it was starting to rot away. As for losing anything, I left my old 54 at a course. Went back in a couple days after I realized I left it, and nobody turned it in.

Maybe your "friend" found it.

I lost my sunglasses last year when it from sunny to rain when I changed into my rain gear. :( Must have dropped them and didnt notice until after the round. they were only cheap anyway

RUSS's avg drive - 230yrds and climbing

I find lots of balls and have found over a dozen clubs in the past 2 years. All the clubs were from groups in front of me and I was able to find their owners.
The only other thing I have found of great value was a wedding band. When I got to the pro shop a guy was almost pulling his hair out over not be able to find his wedding band. He took it off because his finger was sore. I was rewarded with a nice lunch and made a new friend. We have played together a number of times since then.

found a cobra s9 pw today... played about 3 holes before the guys in front realized it was missing

Found a complete set of clubs in the parking lot this week. Figure that someone was about to load them in the car and got distracted. Took them to the clubhouse. Would like to have been there when he opened the trunk and found out they weren't there. I hope he was reunited with them.

WITB - about 15lbs. of clubs, a few balls, tees, and a windbreaker

One time a guy came around asking for a 5 iron on a day where it was cart path only. We said we hadnt seen it and he kept on driving. We drive down a bit further and find it 40 yds off the path in the rough(it looked like the bag actually threw it). It was pretty funny cause it was a demo.

Gotta admit I did that once. I opened the trunk the next day and my heart sank. I racked my brain trying to figure out what had happened. When I returned the driving cart to the clubhouse from the parking lot I never looked back, the clubs were still attached. My trunk was closed and I must have assumed I had already tossed them in the car. (and I don't even drink) I called the course and they had them stashed in the back room. The starter said they sat on the cart for hours until he realized nobody was touching them. I drove 45 minutes back to the course and gave the guy $20. (figured he had saved me at least a grand) I was amazed EVERYTHING was intact.

You know I really don't find much stuff anymore. Seems like I used to alot more. I find an occasional wedge greenside but not very often. What's funny is finding a broken shaft in the trashcan next to the tee box.

What I find more of anymore is just trash. Guys put their plastic wrappers in the carts and they blow out and no one bothers to pick 'em up. I hate a littered golf course.

    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.
