"It's Only a Game: Words of Wisdom from a Lifetime in Golf" by Jackie Burke

I grew up playing and am currently a member at Champions GC, the course that Jackie Burke co-founded in Houston back in the 50's. Having taken many, many "lessons" from him and having talked to him on numerous occasions (everyone at Champions has at least one crazy "Jack Burke" story), this book comes as close as possible to knowing how he views the game of golf. Everything he teaches not only relates to the game but also to life in general.

For anyone that wants a legend's unique look on how the game was played and how it should be played, this book is an absolute must read.

I just read the bio on John Daily. Think it's called my life in and out of the rough. Daily is one of my favorite players and his life is pretty interesting. Has some great stories.

My favourite would be 'Golf on the edge' by Ross Biddiscombe. Gives you an idea of what the non-superstars of professional golf are prepared to endure just to play on the tour.

"The Match". A great insight into the fascinating personalities at a time when competitive golf was changing drastically, all wrapped around a gripping battle on the course. A terrific read!

I also love "Follow the Roar". I have it on my shelf at home. Bob Smiley, the author, is a close friend of my pastor, Kevin Steele. You actually read about my church, National Hills Baptist in the book. Mr. Smiley also sent our church 4 signed copies.

The Match is a great book, Who's Your Caddie, and Open by John Feinstein is a great book about what goes on behind the scenes at tournaments.

The best book to really understand the struggles and triumphs of professional goflers is "Tales From Q School" also by John Feinstein. It's absolutely incredible.

Nearly all the ones I read are non instruction books, I tend to go for history or golf course architecture.

Paper Tiger is definitely an enjoyable and quick read... pretty funny and some interesting looks into pro golf on the smaller tours

The Match and Who's Your Caddy have been mentioned already and I agree, they are both worthwhile

Playing Through by Curtis Gillespie. Curtis moves his family to Gullane,Scotland and it's all about a year there. He befriends Archie Baird maybe the best Golf Historian. Took a trip over there last year and set up a meet with Archie with our group. Great stuff.

The best book has to be the 7th at st. andrews if you are into how a course is made. Also dream golf about building bandon dunes both grate funny book.

I picked up a used copy of Peter Alliss' 19th Hole. It's a great combination of history, stories, facts and instruction.

I don't know whether he and Feherty have any chemistry, but it would be interesting to hear the repartee between them.
