have you ever hit an iron way further than i should?? like today on the 18th in the fairway i had 178yds and hit a 7 iron 30 yds past the green result bogey hit a tree limb on the pitch

Are you sure your yardages were right? Maybe you just bladed it really bad or just made ridiculously good contact. Elevation changes can also be a good explanation.

na not a blade went normal traj for me.maybe perfect contact and i swung at 100 percent maybe a mix of both. i was using a gps so i know the yardages were right

i've had a handful of shots that mysteriously flew way further than they should have. i blasted a 9 iron over a green 140 yards out, where my normal 9 iron will go about 130-135, this shot i estimated went about 150-155. the wind wasn't super strong, i didn't blade it... never did figure out the cause of that super long shot.

and no, i didn't read the club number upside down and accidentally hit a 6 instead of a 9. :P

GPS's have been known to hiccup, even when they normally work perfectly. This especially happens when the battery starts to get low. I always double check visually by just checking the location of the 150 marker, or whatever the course provides for a yardage marker.

It happens, every now and then you get in this "zone" where adrenaline is pumping and out of nowhere, you'll hit a superhuman shot. If you ever ran track or participated in field events, maybe twice or three times a season, you would crush your previous personal best. The very best athletes are able to find this "zone" more consistently than the rest of us. I'd say this is what separates the very top 0.2% in every sport. Everyone has about the same physical ability. It's that mental/mind/body control that gets you that last fraction of a percent that makes you a world beater.

In many sports, modern chemistry might be playing a role also. Hate to say it, but its true.

I've had some freakish results like that in the past with other sets of irons (graphite & steel shafts).

That type of blow up and / or ballooning as well has never occured with my current irons. I suspect the Rifle shafts have everything to do with that. The ball gets up easy but doesn't peak as high....just a nice consistent medium trajectory.

These are more accurate, too. Left to right shot dispersion was improved immediately.

If I'm fortunate enough to replace these sticks with a set of forged cavities some day I'll be looking for the current Rifle shafts as well.

I doubt very much it is a result of the clubs.

I've hit a punch 7i to a green that was slightly uphill and about 155 to the middle. I flew the green, and ended up having a 20 yard pitch back to the green.
