Does body type dictate swing mechanics?(might get long)

Does your body type (ie stocky, lanky, etc.) dictate what your swing mechanics are like? I ask because I am experiencing some frustration with different types of swing theories. I've dabbled in the Stack and Tilt, The Seven Laws of the Golf Swing, Five Fundamentals by Hogan, ad infinitum. When I first started playing or should I say swinging a club I did just what felt natural (if I remember it was somewhat of an upright handsy swing) and after I while I could really make good solid contact (I could actually hit a 3 iron roughly 200 yds). That swing felt natural wind it up let the club drop and siwng it through to a full finish. Then the wanna be pro in me took over and I gobbled up any swing info I could get my hands on, from lessons to books, swings vids on you tube etc.I want to be a dedicated Hogan desciple, however after several months it still feels manufactured. Using Hogans ideas works pretty well for my shorter clubs but the transition to the longer clubs isn't going so well. So I was wondering me being a short stocky guy are ther teroies out there for my body type or should I go back to what works? Sorry if this has been asked, I did search and didn't find anything exact. Thanks in advance for the input.

First , your swing plane has to match your body . Short and stocky swingers naturally have a flatter swing plane . Tall lean players like myself ( 6'5" , 230 ) have a more upright swing plane . Don't force yourself into a swing plane that doesn't fit , otherwise you will always struggle to keep your swing on plane throught your swing .

Secondly , assess your physical skills : How strong are you ? How flexible are you ? Choose a swing that your body can make all the crucial moves to completion . If you hit the ball well with a certain swing but kill your back performing it , then you either have to get in better physical shape OR you have to find a swing that your back and body are happy with .

For me , a bad back from work forced me to completely redo my swing , starting about 2 years ago . I finally am at the point where I am content with my swing , and my scores are starting to go back down again . If you can trust your swing , you can go lower and be more aggressive on the course .     • So close, that is frustrating.
    • You need to stick with one instructor as long as they’re not terrible. There’s no blueprint to improving a golf swing and different instructors may see different things as being more important and try to fix them. The end result is you get a hodge podge of things to work in that may not be cohesive or necessarily help you. If you stick to one instructor and communicate to them as such, they’ll also be able to work out a roadmap to your improvement which is more beneficial in the long run. If a guy assumes you’re just coming in for one lesson you might end up with a band aid.

    • Many thanks.  I read a lot of those posts.   Man, that is really deep.  As an old beginner, during a lesson or on the driving range, I have hit a good shot, you know pretty straight and it goes say 130 yards (7 iron).  The very next swing, I dig a ditch behind the ball.  I know I didn't do the same things on both swings.  Even this last lesson I had, I would hit a pretty good shot, not so on the next shot.  The instructor would quickly point out, "Hey you stayed on your back foot" or "Guess what happened there.  You got all armsy or handsy".  Sort of feels like I need a checklist when I prepare to swing each time.  I can see it now before every swing, "Hey can you guys give me 10 minutes while I run through my checklist".  In all seriousness, I see what you all are saying.  I wouldn't be overthinking it so much if just I could make decent contact most of the time.  Next lesson is about two weeks away.  Can't wait.
