So i see the 2009 hot list (golf digest) contained the Bobby Jones Workshop edition Hybrid so i decide to go out and spend 150 bucks on Ebay and buy the B Jones Hybrid...

I purchsed a H1 (17*) and was curious as to why the lofts listed in the hot list weren't available... i get the club and it's HORRIBLE...

LO and BEHOLD! I compare the picture of my club to the one in Golf Digest and it's TOTALLY DIFFERENT...

Problem is: There is NO SUCH THING as a Bobby Jones WORKSHOP EDITION HYBRID.. I can't find it ANYWHERE>>>>>

Does anyone know why? Ive already written to Golf Digest about this but the only hybrids that Bobby Jones makes are the Player's Editions that have different lofts and different heads than the one shown in the hybrids section of the 2009 Hot List.

PLEASE HELP!

The workshop edition is real. It's new for 2009, and as far as I know isn't in stores yet. One of the big selling points is the longer hosel which allows the lie angle to be adjusted (similar to an iron fitting). Sounds like you bought the older players hybrid.

Such are the perils of buying on ebay. Unless you are extremely cautious, you will eventually get screwed to some degree. Contact the seller and ask about returning it. If they say no, resell it on ebay yourself. You may not make all of your money back, but some is better than none.

Yeah, hasn't come out yet. But, can't always rely on Gold Digest. And, purchasing before trying out a club is not such a great idea. The problem is, Bobby Jones hybrids are harder to find at local stores, I haven't ever seen any at the local Golfsmith. The hybrid you bought really can't be that bad, probably just less forgiving. It got good reviews in previous Hot Lists (if one can consider that a reliable source)

The clubs are not bogus. You made an uninformed purchase.

The Player's Editions Clubs are the clubs that have been sold for the last 2 years. The Workshop Editions (the one you wanted), with the new lofts and modified design, do not debut until April. When Golf Digest tests these clubs, they want the new designs and makers need to get the prototypes to them around Sept-October for testing. If you purchased from an authorized dealer, try to obtain a refund within the 30 day period of purchase. If not, call Bobby Jones, tell them what you intended to purchase, return the club to them and get on the list for the new edition. I've got to warn you, though, that the 17 Hybrid is meant for better players -- it is a tour club. Even the 19 is for better players in the Player's Series. The first one I'd start with in the original Player's series is the 21.

100% agree there. Also, the original poster at an 18 hdcp is better served having an extra wedge in his bag than a hybrid equivalent of a 1 iron in my opinion. If you're looking for something in the same loft I'd suggest a 3 or 5 wood. Good luck with the resale, you may find an interested buyer.

I don't know if I mentioned it above, but to the original poster, OMG, the 17 is their club for scratch and pros -- it's no wonder it did not fit you. Most players don't like the 19 because it is not easy to get in the air -- the 21 is the first one most should choose. Look, it's a small profile club, no 18 hc should use it. As the other poster said, stick to 4 woods and 5 woods at that hc level.
