I am thinking about selling my putter and getting a Scotty Cameron, maybe the Newport 2. Do you guys know where I can demo some of his putters? I was able to try 1 or 2 at the local Golfsmith, but that is it.

Golfsmith has a good selection of Scotty's, Golf Galaxy has a few and you have to ask to try them. Edwin Watts handled them to. I have never seen one at Dick's Sporting Goods , I don't do much shopping there, so I can't say if they do.

which model would you guys recommend? I notice most people prefer the Newport 2 and I like the looks of it.

It depends on how you want the putter to feel and look. I dont think one is any better than another. I slightly arc my stroke so a newport is good for me because its got a little bit of toe hang. If youre more of a strait back and trough putter, the newport 2 would still work for you fine, but they also have the squareback version which is becoming very popular.

I guess you'd better answer that yourself. I applaud your effort to test 'em out before you take the plunge. Putter fitting is no exact science and it seems my preference is always changing. Hopefully you have more dedicated tastes and will know what you like when you see & feel it.

Blade, Mallet, or "hybrid"? Offset or minimal offset? Stainless or carbon steel? SC makes a lot of different styles....check out his webpage and look at the different views....take careful note of the view of the putters at address. I found this very helpful. My favorite blade style is the Newport 2 Midslant. I love the way this putter sets up to the ball. Not too much offset. I also love the Circa 62 numbers 1 & 3. They set up well for me and have a great feel to them....carbon steel but almost as weatherproof as stainless due to the Charcoal Mist finish. 35" works best for me so this series is super. My favorite mallet is the Red X 3. Easy to line up and feel is outrageous. If you want a mallet with a plumbers neck...then look hard at the Red X 5. If you are wanting something in between a conventional blade and a mallet, then look at the Squareback. I had my heart set on one of these...but couldn't wait for them to come out (now readily available) and went with the Newport 2 midslant. The Squareback offers you a forgiving heel-toe weighted putter with superb aiming ...only a riflescope can get you lined up better!!!!

Love the midslant neck....sets up very well for me. Nothing wrong with the plumbers neck....I just love the midslant.

Wow, shes a beauty! Thats pretty much the exact model I have been looking at. I just want to make sure I research and demo before I make the purchase. I currently have a Ping Craz-e putter. It is a heavy mallet. I left my clubs in Florida, so I have been playing with a friends extra set here in Denver. He has an old blade that I have been using, and I realized I have much better feel with the smaller putter.

When I line up with the craz-e, its size and weight makes me focus on the putter, whereas, when I line up with a blade, I just think about the ball and where I want it to go. If you can make sense of that, then you can understand what I am dealing with at the moment.

Thanks for all of your responses...hopefully soon I'll have my own Newport 2 midslant!

Our local Golf Mart sells Scotty Cameron but they keep them under a glass case. I would simple call the local golf stores and golf courses and someone should carrying them.
