You say they're comparable to the all of the new Callaway stuff. They aren't.

What would make a club "comparable" to them, and what about these clubs makes them NOT "comparable"? Do you know something specific about the materials or craftsmanship of these clubs that should keep people from buying them? I know next to nothing about metallurgy, clubhead design, shafts or grips, so I don't really have an opinion on the clubs...yet. Other than, of course, I was able to get 13 of them for a price of between 1/3 - 1/2 what I'd have paid for "branded" clubs.

Thanks,

Bob Huddleston

For a 29, they'll be comparable. They look like they may have actually taken the same mold for the cast (which is not unheard of). materials and overall manufacturing process will make a difference, but most golfers (especially high handicappers) could take a set of knock offs and not see a single stroke difference in their score.

Almost every golfer I know plays clubs that are much better than they are.

Report: Played my first round with them this past week. They looked good and they felt good. The best I had ever done before was a 99 on 18 holes, and I've only done that three times. The first round with these clubs, I shot a 94 on a course where my prior best was 100 even.

Now, was it the clubs or did I just swing better than I normally do? I honestly don't know. But the clubs didn't hurt my playing so at this point I'm very happy with what I got and what I paid for them?

Take care,

Bob Huddleston

I say well done man. Seriously, if the guy wants to buy new 'clone' type clubs let him do it. He says he likes them so he did well and is happy and that's all that matters. Plus having checked their site, their blades lok pretty decent, i'd say they copied the 690mb?

Congrats. The bottom line is that you are happy with them, and they didn't increase your strokes.

Well, I am sure you will be happy enough with what you got as long as you don't mind the bit of stigma that comes with playing a set of knockoff clubs. In many cases, the clubs do play well, as it seems could be the case with what you bought. Personally, I just don't like playing a knockoff/clone and think you could have still beat that deal with older clubs and still got the performance. Let's try:

Taylor Made R5 Dual - $55
Ben Hogan BH-5 Offset $100 - These are so similar to the old Callaway X-14's you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference.
Big Bertha 2004 3 Wood - $30
Callaway 20* Steelhead FW - $20
Adams Golf Tom Watson 3 Wedge Set - $50
Ping Anser Putter - $40

So, if my math is correct, I just put together a decent quality set of used clubs for under $300. I mainly stuck to as much game improvement gear as I could. Yeah, some of the stuff is old, but it is all good. I would much rather tote around old gear than clone gear, regardless of how the clones may work.

So you would suggest buying a Ben Hogan Club that is "so similar to the old Callaway X-14's you would be hard-pressed to tell the difference"? That sounds like a CLONE!!! Seriously, if you are a high handicapper, like me, then you can't go wrong with these clubs. And for those that say that the quality isn't the same, you need to do some research. I would rather be able to pick my own name brand shaft, grip and a clone head and have a professional club maker assemble them to my exact specifications than buy a set of the brand name clubs off the rack at Dicks. Cmon people don't let the marketing fool you!! They are all made in China!!!!! I also love the comments about how others will view you. I thin it is great that many of you will buy $1000 irons and $400 drivers so that your golfing buddies will think you are cool while you slice it into the lettuce.

My Thoughts also,, I am working up a set of Golfworks/Maltby clubs that I will soon buy.

Till then I will beat up clone/knock offs that I have. They (my Tour Model II's) seem to be able to make divots, hook and slice just as good as my buddy with his Pings. The bad part is I have to buy the beer because he's out of cash !! (HEheHE,,,burp)

I'll take the other side of the argument.

GigaGolf makes quality clubs. Their heads are made from the same types of steel as the big boys. Their molds are "similar" (the same) in design. Their clubmaking is also good-I've seen a couple of sets and they are well made-no stray bits of epoxy, ferrules that are turned to sit flush, grips are installed properly. I did a lot of research on GigaGolf, and couldn't find anything saying that they made poor quality clubs at all. I was looking to buy some new irons from them, and would have had I not wrapped my 4 iron around a tree and needed a new set the next day. I happily game a component driver, and the set of irons I have now are my first from an OEM. Don't let the nay-sayers give you buyers remorse-you bought quality component clubs from a quality maker who stands behind their product. They'll serve you well and will perform the same as the used Callaways would.

Well, after a few months of play with them, I'm EXTREMELY satisfied. I'm still not shooting any better than the low 90's now, but I haven't had a lot of opportunity to get out and practice or even play this year...bad year for golf for me. I just swapped out the 4 iron for the 4 hybrid, since I can't seem to hit the iron worth a damn but I can hit the 3 hybrid okay (most of the time). Anyway, thanks for all the feedback from everyone here, and again, I HIGHLY recommend GigaGolf clubs.
