It is no great surprise that with the depth of this recession that golf "destination spots" are hurting and increasingly desperate for business!! So---there are all kinds of deals out there, if you have a job and all of your holdings in your 401K were not slaughtered by the bear stock market. According to the article in Saturday's "Wall Street Journal", Myrtle Beach has been the least affected by the recession, and therefore, their deals are not discounted as much as other locations.

Are you going to take a golf vacation or trip in the next few months, and if you are, what kind of deal did you successfully negotiate?

I would like to make a 1-week trip to some golf destination on the East Coast.

Could you list some examples of discounted packages?

Probably so. It is worth a try. Call a competitor, get a quote, and tell the place where you are booked that you got a better deal unless they discount the one they offered you.

Just got back from Florida (spur of the moment trip) and played well over 108 holes (closer to 120) in 3 days…..lots of golf in not a lot of time. We worked out the following deals:

Lost Key $40 for all we could golf (reg $99 + $35 replay)
Perdido Bay $50 for 36 holes (reg $49 + $29 replay)
Holiday Golf Club $60 for 36 holes (reg $65 + $35 replay)

We also do a Northern Michigan trip (28 guys) the weekend after Mothers day (this will be our 15th year). This year we are headed to Grand Traverse Resort . Our package includes golf (18 Thursday, 36 Friday, and 36 Saturday) and lodging. They typically charge about $450 for this type of package and I was able to get it this year for $350.

There are deals out there…you just need to ask.

Eight of us were able to book 5 nights accomidations with 6 days of unlimited golf w/cart in a prestine mountain course resort for $470/person in early May. They have been offering this early season deal for a couple years now.
