I have been searching around looking for a hybrid or a fairway wood for the past 2 months, mainly because I don't have one for those 200-230 yd shots. Right now i just have irons, wedges, and a driver. (Nike CCi, Nike sv tour, Nike Sumo 5000) Recently the new dymo clubs from Nike caught my eye, but the price is a little high for me at the moment. I stumbled upon the Tour Burner rescue clubs, they look good at address and are made by Taylormade so the quality is not an issue. But as of yesterday I saw the new Adams Speedline hybrid fairway wood and it looks pretty solid. I know Adams makes really good hybrids so i figured that these clubs must be pretty good. I haven't heard anything about the speedline as of yet, and i was wondering if anybody has had experience with them.

I haven't hit the Speedline yet and I don't plan on it. I'm just not a fan of Adams' "hybrid/fairway wood in one" design. I like the look of a FW when I'm hitting a FW.

You should try the PING G10, some Titleists, and the Cleveland Launcher. I've hit them all (except the 909s) and IMO they are the best. The 906s are like $150-$170 new if you look around. The PING may be out of your price range ($220 - same as Dymo). The Launcher is $180 new and has two pretty good stock shafts to choose from.

There is always the used option too.

I think you'd be better off with a 3W than a 15* hybrid. I just think that they are more useful.

Have you tried the SQ fairways and hybrids? They are real cheap now the dymo's have been released. If you decide on a hybrid you must give cleveland a demo, they are soooo easy to hit, much easier than the titleist 585 I traded it for.

I haven't really thought about cleveland until you guys brought it up. I used to hit a hibore xl driver and it was pretty easy to get going straight, so I will definitely look into both of these when i head out shopping this week. I might talk to my instructor too, because he is apart of Team Titleist and he might be able to help me out, like if the 909's might be right for me.

Try any of the tour edge exotics older models especially the xcg, suposed to be the longest fairway wood. On ebay they go for around $200 I am going to buy the xcg-v hybrid which is this years exotics line.

I have not hit the Adams, but I am going through the same process you are.

I think Adams makes a fine club, like many companies, but much about this game and equipment is personal preference. I was considering replacing my 3 wood this season. I have looked at just about every club available. For me, who plays off of short bent grass most often, I prefer a shallow face clubhead. The Taylor Burner sets up perfect. The ball really comes off the face of this club quickly and it has a great feel.

Recently, someone challenged me to consider simply replacing my current 3 wood with a Hybrid. I already play 2 hybrids and adding one more actually seems like a better alternative. I like the thought of staying with a club type of something I hit often versus just having an arbitrary 3 wood in my bag. If you think about it, how many times do you really need to hit a fairway club per round. The hybrid seems like a much more versitile choice.

Just a thought. One I am considering...

I suspect that my next club will be a square Nike hybrid.

I've hit a few hybrids and even owned/gamed a G10 2 hybrid for a few months.

The G10 was nice, however the 2 hybrid was not a good choice for me as I hit my 7 wood with a much greater level of consistency.

The square Nike Sumo I tried did very well. It was forgiving on hits high and low on the face as well as off center. I enjoyed the higher ball flight, too.

I'm going with a 4 hybrid this time.

I haven't seen the new "Dymo" sticks in hybrids yet....I have to custom order length and the square Sumo was still available from my pro shop in custom order....I'd better act swiftly. I may go order it today......thanks for reminding me.
