I was wondering if any and all current Mizuno MP players will weigh in on their favorite MP iron, and why.

Please tell me about any MP irons you've owned/tested/used and why you chose what you did, and what you personally like/dislike about each set.

Specifically, I'm looking for personal feedback from +2 to 10 handicappers on MP irons. I'm tyring to decide between buying new MP-52, MP-62, MP-57, MP-67. I will certainly consider others in the MP line, so please chime in if you have a different set.

I am also considering Titleist AP2, but would prefer to limit this disussion to the Mizunos.

I've got MP57's and love them. I waited till the new 52's and 62's came out and then made my decision. Couldn't get the 62's in lefty, so went with 57's cause I hit them great when I tested them. I really like the look of the 57's and 62's. The 57's have awesome feel and are the best irons I've hit. Just make sure you pick out the right shaft. I just got mine reshafted this winter to a lighter steel shaft, put in DG SL R300 and am really liking the new shafts.

I had the AP1's for about 2 months last summer and traded them in on the 57's. Good luck on your purchase.

I ahve tried the 67, 62, and 57s. I tried the 62s out after I bought mine but didnt like em. Both the 57/67 felt great but wanted to get my swing in order so I went w/ the 67s. Looking for new irons now though cause im looking for something a bit more forgiving if that says anything....

Take a look at the 32s. I've tried almost all of them: 33, 30, 37, 52, 62, and 14.

The 14s are really small and unforgiving. The 30s made this clicking sound that drove me absolutely nuts. I hated them and sold them. The 33s are beautiful and almost even with the 32s. Did not like either of the new releases: 52 and 62.

I have played the following Mizunos

I like the feel, balance and look of mp33s. they are easier to hit then you might think and will improve your game, I have 3 rounds of under par with these clubs.

My 14 year old son is currently playing the mp33 from 6-pw for his JV golf team and if my 14 year old son can play with them you can too.

I have a mixed set of MP-60's 4-7 and MP-32's 8-pw. I like both, but can "lean" on the MP-60's more than the 32's. They really feel sweet with 5.0 PX shafts. My only complaint about Mizuno is that the customer service is really terrible, IMO.

I currently own a set of MP-60's after wanting to by some Mizuno MP's for the last couple years. They have a great feel (like all Mizuno's), but I'm not sure I'm a good enough ball striker for them. I bought them used just because I got a good deal, but may be exchanging them for MP-52 or MP-57 model which are both a little more forgiving.

I really think the 52's are the most forgiving of all of the MP line and would highly recommend them for a low-ish handicap. For a good player I could easily see mixing the 52 long irons with 62 short irons (or even 57's). It really comes down to how consistent a ball striker you are. The heads on the 52 and 57 models are a decent size, with the 62 being only slightly smaller. Getting down into the 30-something line, they have small heads and are not very forgiving at all. Obviously, like all irons, test them as much as possible.

You wanted comment from a low handi-cap but here is my two cents...
(even though I am a high handi-cap)
I got a begginers set of Adams Idea A3, always shot in the 100's
wanted new irons, just because...
wanted Mizuno's...
so I tried them out, for a high handicapper like me I could not hit the MP-67 nor the MP-32 then I picked up the MP-60 and have ever since shot in the mid to low 90's and will be in the 80's very soon, (this weekend if the wheather holds out)
The MP-60 is nice at address and yet forgiving and can shape nice shots...
Try them they are awesome, I got mine BRAND SPANKING new for $350 with S300 shafts.
I now hit these better then the Adams Idea A3 and the Adams are made for beginners...

I play 60's and absolutely love them. They look great, and when you hit the right shot, you have no doubt as to exactly how far and where it will land. I have been on the course, hit a shot, and not even looked up because I know what these clubs are capable of when the are hit purely. Additionally, since I do not play as much these days, when I practice, I instantly know when something is wrong with my swing because of the club feedback. If you do not hit where you are supposed to you will know about it! Some people may say this is a bad thing, however, I disagree. If you are an athlete, you will figure out how to fix the problem to hit the good shots, or you will just play like crap all day if you do not! I have tried other MP's and think all are great. I happened to specifically choose the 60's due to timing and a deal I cam across a few years ago. Hope this is helpful.

Another question for the Mizuno experts in here,

I am looking to get a set of irons from 6I to PW to replace my ironwoods. Which is better for the fellow who is knocking on the door of a 100? the MX 100 or MX 200?

I have tried the 30, 32, 57, 60, 67. I currently play the 60 and previously played the T-Zoid Pro. IMHO, I was not a fan of the 57, the blade was too long and the top line too thick for my liking. I was torn between the 67 and 60, but went with the 60 as I got a little more height on my shots. The 67 had a more boring flight. The 30 and 32 were great, pure shots were incredible, but I am not as young as I once was and I am not as good as a ball striker so I needed a little more forgiveness.

To help muddy your decision making, I also tried the AP2 and loved them, my final decision was based on being able to get the MP-60 for an incredible price (and I have all kinds of Mizuno stuff, bag/hat/towel/clothes).

I was knocking on 100 and now I am knocking on 80... Since I got the MP-60 my confidence has gone way up... I really like my MP-60 these babies will stay with me for awhile...

Try the mp33s, my 14 year old son is using my clubs and he shots in the 100 - 119 for 18 holes and hit the irons well. He uses the 6-pw in the mp33s.

I would recommend MP 32, 52, 60, and 62. My MP60 has been in the bag since it was first released but still in my bag. Can't seem to find a reason to change even with all the nice irons out in the market now.

Reccomend the 33's.

I play off 18 (was a 12 about 5 years ago). These blades are quite forgiving for their genre. Look bliss as well.

whats your ball striking like?

if your consistently good throughout you irons then playing off 5 you shouldnt have a problem using 67s and they would give you the ultimate feel and control of any iron, not just mizuno.

if its not great with the longer irons then maybe you should look at getting say 3-6 in 52s or 57s and then 7-PW in 62s or 67s, this would give you the forgiveness in the long irons without sacrificing much feel and the control and feel that you need in the short irons

      Day 13 (15 Apr 25)- late afternoon session with 6i full swings into the net and short pitches in the yard, before moving to Sw for controlled up and downs.  For kicks broke out the DCI 16° 1 iron and hit a few as into the net.  Definitely different beast.

      Very respectfully, I disagree.  I still believe there’s a small kernel of truth to my theory.  Hey, you, iacas and many others here are extremely knowledgeable, know the game inside out, know the tour inside out.  I’m just a schmuck who posted a take, admittedly unsupported and not up to reasonable high standards. There’s a background to my take - I’ll attempt to briefly describe it.  Back when Rory first came on tour, I thought he was great - most folks did, his talent was undeniable, and his youthful happy go lucky looking demeanor made him even more likable.  And he won early, fast - at the highest levels. And then the physical workouts started.  That was cool, man he’s looking good.  And as it went along, was even a bit shocking.  But all was still good in the Rory fan club. But as a few years rolled along and the majors stopped, folks like me started to question the effect of the physical build up.  (raising my hand here - - folks like me were probably concentrating 95% on the majors record, and failing to acknowledge his stellar play overall) The matches with Patrick Reed...  Somewhere around that time, Patrick became “the most hated man on tour”.  Raising my hand again, not sure if that timing is accurate, or even if that moniker was deserved.  But when Rory got into the screaming flex-off, it definitely detracted from the earlier Rory likability.  It’s kinda like he was lowering himself to Patrick’s level.  Not so great, for me at least. As the mid 2010s rolled along, and the majors drought continued, and the near misses at the Masters happened, the dreaded ‘choke’ perception inevitably raised its head and persisted.  I joined in with the chorus, not disliking Rory, but certainly questioning his ability to close the Masters or any other major.  Rightfully or wrongly, it was there. Then LIV came along.  As that developed, I saw the anti-LIV sentiment develop along with it, and I took offense to it.  My thought - these guys are being offered life changing $$, and the anti-LIV folks are trying to stop them from getting it. And then when Rory rose to ‘lead’ the anti-LIV sector, that really rubbed me the wrong way.  The press conferences, the parking lot shouting match - it just all seemed really distasteful to me.  And it seemed far far away from the early Rory, who I really liked. So all that (in my own mind) led me down the “Rory will never win.. yada yada”.  Not based on any real statistical analysis.  Not taking into account the incredible stats and winning record he had amassed. Purely based on perception and cultural silliness.  AND - the physical thing, which as I mentioned, I think there’s a tiny kernel of merit there. So - fast forward to Rory’s post win press conference.  THAT was the old Rory I remembered!  The totally cool guy, humble, forthright, honest, self deprecating.  He’s probably been like that all along.  And he’s certainly backed off the hard core anti-LIV persona, at least in public. That’s it.  Just a stupid unsupported take from a dumbsh*t golf fan.  For me, this was the most exciting major since the Tiger era. I really thought it would be a gladiator death match between Rory and Bryson.  I’m surprised that Bryson fell off - - I thought he was well-set-up to handle the pressure.  I’m sure he’ll be there many times in the future, along with Rory.

      I've been watching golf for 35 years and I've seen my fair share of exciting events, but I cannot recall ever watching so much up and down in the fortunes of one player in one round of golf. How good the good shots were and how bad the bad shots were and how he was leading, then not, then leading again, then way clear, then tied, then behind, then leading, then in a playoff, then winning. Heck I aged just watching it on the TV - Rory must have gone through some stuff out there. Just incredible. Consider that Rory had two double bogeys, three bogeys, six birdies, and Rose made only 4 pars, 4 bogeys, and 10 birdies. 10! Round that place? Mind officially blown.
