Anyone have their clubs built using this technique? Basically every iron in your bag is the same length from your 3i-SW. I was told that when you have your normal set of clubs you have to swing on 13 different spine angles. With the true length technology, you swing on one spine angle with every club. I was curious to see if anyone in here is using this?

True Length is not built the same length for the whole set. That is the "1 Iron" Golf set.

TLT still has increments for each iron, throughout the set. Its just a different concept of incrementing, that is different than today's "standard" of 1/2" incrementals.

Its based on math/trig and your WTF

I thought TLT was something different, something like a mathematically defined progression of club lengths that is different from the standard 1/2" per club progression. Single length iron sets have been made by a few companies, I think 1 iron golf is the most notable at this time, but I know Tommy Armour did them long ago as well.

I guess I mis-understood what he was telling me. I held a 6i and stayed in position while he changed the 6i for a PW. They felt the same length. So how does that keep you from having the different spine angles if the clubs are still different lengths?

you may have misunderstood..

But I will tell you that TLT and "Single Length" are two totally different concepts.

In TLT, its very possible, that the low lofted irons will be shorter than standard length.. and your higher lofted, short irons, will be longer than standard length.

With the "1 Iron / Single Length" concept.. all head weights are the same.. all lie angles are the same.. only thing different is the loft.. and the number on the sole..
Shafts are tip trimmed, for that head weight.. and built to the length that you are fitted for..

myOstrich Golf also has a component head where a clubbuilder can build your own "Single Length" iron set.

If you notice.. look at the lie angles and head weights..

TLT uses traditional components and regular shafts, but its just a totally different fitting concept.. that goes outside of the box, away from the "standard" 1/2" increments.

What works for one golfer.. might not work for you..

I understand the difference now. I would not want the single length set like that. That is why I posted the question, because I don't think that is something I would feel comfortable with.

Sorry about the confusion guys. It all makes sense now!

    • Ah.. my regular weekend league. Lol Scrambles are fine. Usually there's charity involved. So there's that. There are much worse events Im forced to attend twice a year.
    • Does Justin Thomas have a massively underrated short game? It seems every time I look up he's hitting it close from a tough lie after short siding himself. What masterful touch
    • I freaking hate them. Too expensive, cheaters, food sucks, too dependent on weather, I keep telling myself never do it again but I'm a dummy
    • I enjoyed the A-B-C-D scramble we did at Kittyhawk before it shut down. Yes. The point was to meet the other members and get the season kicked off. Nobody took it too seriously. At least with that group, cheating wasn't a big issue.  As the D part of A-B-C-D, I enjoyed getting to play with one of the Association's top players. One year I played with the city champ. Man could he hit a ball.  It probably isn't something I'd want to do more than once a year, but it has its place.
