Any one have any quick fixes for getting rid of a wicked iron slice? I'm definitely coming out-to-in on my down swing.. I just can't stop doing it recently. This is a new problem since I got these new clubs.

I just want to fix it. So let's have it. I want to hear all of your "slice cures". I'm sure theres a bunch of theories out there.

Watch out for flying right elbow (assuming you're right handed). Make sure that puppy is tucked at the top and pointing towards the ground, and make sure you have your posture right with your butt sticking out. That right elbow needs to clear your hips on the way down

Get rid of the chicken wing, aka the flying elbow to echo the previous poster. At worst, I have a gentle fade on the ball when I leave the face open just a hair.

In my stand Bag:

R7 Superquad 10.5* Fujikura REAX 65-S
Hi-Bore XLS 19* Hybrid Dynamic Gold S300
MP-60 4 thru PW Dynamic Gold S300 .588 REG 54* SW Vokey 58* LWSTX Greeny IV putter

For years, the best I could manage with my irons was a slight cut with intermittent slicing. Two pieces of advice from Hank Haney's book completely cured the problem.

#1 Flatten your swing plane. Much of slicing comes from too vertical a swing plane which induces counter rotation of the arms and an open club face. A flatter swing plane favors normal arm rotation at contact and a neutral or slightly closed club face.

#2 The flat of the back of your left hand should lead through the swing at contact, returning the club face to a neutral position.

Swinging out-in or in-out will have much less effect on ball flight than either of these two keys. Try practicing in front of a mirror to have a better idea of what your swing plane really is like.

    • Well, I have a 2 hybrid, 4 hybrid and then play 6 iron onwards.  My best clubs are probably the 4 hybrid and the PW.  What I find is that loft is your friend in general which is why my 4 hybrid is so much better than my 2 hybrid.  Definitely disproportionately more so than the 5 or so degrees of difference in loft.  If you have hybrids, play them.  And consider loft as your friend.  Invariably you will get up to a loft where anything less will not get you more distance because of your club head speed.  Essentially the faster you swing the less lofted a club you can hit effectively.  For me it is probably a 4 hybrid and maybe a 7 iron though I could improve both with practice
    • Off to my home state of Massachusetts this morning. 9 this afternoon,  18 tomorrow,  and 18 on Saturday. Hoping for some good scores but will be just happy playing with good friends.
