Has anyone ever played this ball? From what I have read it has fairly good spin and reasonably soft feel for a pretty good price. If you have played it would you recommend it?

Best $20 ball there is, in my opinion.

I really like them and they are a great value. Great feel and putt well. For me they play as well or better than Bridgestone e5+ or Titleist NXT Tour.

I've been playing the Staff 50's as well as the Zips since last summer and have not noticed any difference between the two with my limited skills. Decent spin and distance and the prices are right. They seem to be very durable also as I've retired a few that just would not come clean any more but were still play-able as far as cuts and scuffs. I gravitated to them because they are supposedly good for slower swing speeds.

The only thing I don't like about them is the visual of the shallow, flat bottom dimples. Don't know if they aerodynamically add or decrease distance compared to the more traditional round bottom dimples but for now it is just aesthetics and they play ok. Golf Digest just gave the Zip a good review.

I play them in the cold weather and like them very much.

So does a friend of mine. He swears by the zips in cold weather.

THE WEAPONS CACHE..

I appreciate everyone's feedback, amd after doing some more reading of reviews i think i will buy a sleeve of the zips and the gamers and see which one works better for my game.

Wilson Zip and Top-Flite Gamer are two very good budget golf balls.

I'll take the Gamer any day over the Zip.

I read the accolades here about the 50s and the Zips for cold weather golf. I tried a box of each back in January. I never finished the dozens...gave them to my 9 year old son. I'm sure they are decent balls but they just came off way too muted with my putter. I'm not saying that I want to putt a rock...but I do want a slight bit of "clickiness" from the flatstick.

Zips are good with spin but lack distance off the tee. feel like you are hitting a pillow. The sound on the putter is a little soft as well.

I think they are one of the better balls in the price category. I played them a lot over the winter when it was cold and really liked their soft feel. It's definitely a ball worth considering as your ball of choice.
