It seems only sporting to yell 'Fore!' if you're going to be hitting into other foursomes. I hate when I hear balls slamming into the ground near me with no warning.

Incidently, Sean Fister (3-time Long Drive Champion) talks about hitting drives into people (people standing on the greens of par 4s) and sending a couple to the hospital.

Maybe a helmet/faceguard should be standard golf equipment. At least when playing the local muni.

Sometimes, with the wind, you can't even hear someone yelling "fore!" anyway. At my course, fortunately, we all know where the danger areas are...

But yeah, public courses can be a whole other ball of wax. A whole other dangerous ball of wax.

This only applies though to people and property on the golf course. I happen to know first hand if you hook one OB through a person's windshield driving on a road outside the course you get to buy them a new one. We have that happen a lot at the course where I work and the drivers come into the pro shop demanding the course pay for the damage. It doesn't work that way. If you ever get hit by an errant ball while driving your car, stop immediately and get a name because the course will not pay for it.

But yeah, public courses can be a whole other ball of wax. A whole other dangerous ball of wax.

Boy you ain't kidding either! We call 911 several times a summer. The weirdest though was the guy who slammed his club down so hard that it snapped right below the handle and he jabbed the broken end into his leg! Ouch!!

I heard a story about a guy who slammed his club down once. The shaft broke and the clubhead portion rebounded and the shaft stuck him in the neck. He bled to death.
