Alright so there is a club championship going on at my home course (literally; I live on the 6th hole). It started yesterday and I did not do well at all. I did horrible actually. I shot an 85.

Now, I would really like to be in the top ten, and I don't think I can do that with an 85 but im going to try. My question is, do you think I could shoot in the 60's today if im on my game? I think it's about time I get there, plus im very comfortable with this course.

After having a bad round, I think it's time for a good one. I shoot consistently around 75-78 on this course. Do you think I could get it done? I'm going to post today's score on this thread as soon as I'm done- tee time is 1:00 pm Eastern. Thanks!

Nope, sure don't.

Harsh.

Not knowing anything terribly specific about your game or the course you are playing, it's possible if you play a really fantastic round. Have you ever shot in the 60s at this course? It's good to go into the round with a positive mind set looking to put up a low number. Just remember, don't put any extra pressure on yourself to make each and every shot, just play the game.

it probably comes down to how well you start off. 3 under after 6 holes is what your looking for, good luck. 74 is your lowest? just take a bit more time to think about every shot and happy flag hunting cuz thats what you need to do.

Do you have it in you? Of course you do. Can you keep your head in the right place for 18 holes to get it out of you and on the course? Only you really know.
Best of luck, and I hope you do it!

Sure, you can, and you might. I shot an 83 off a 36+ handicap once - anything's possible. Take it one stroke at a time and good luck!

as a similar capper, I'd say first of all 85 isn't the end of the world. As far as shooting in the 60's, well that would be a career low for you, right? Technically it would be possible, but for god's sake don't be disappointed if it doesn't happen. I'd say be happy with anything in the 70's honestly.

Do you think I could get it done?

No.

And the USGA says the odds of you shooting -3, or 10 better than your 7 index, is about 84,300 to 1. The key to reaching your goals is to be realistic about them. You're just setting yourself up for massive failure.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

First off good luck to you but I must agree with the previous poster that the odds are against you. If you shoot a mid 70's round (or a 70, your previous best) - You can't be disappointed with that. That would be one heck of a bounce back, one you should be proud of.

I think it is definitely a possibility, but if you don't pull it off don't be too disappointed about it. All you have to do is keep the ball in play off the tee, hit 70% of greens, and take advantage of the par 5's. If you do these things, and stay focused after you hit a bad shot, then you can definitely shoot in the 60's.

No.

thats the most realistic post ive read so far (besides the "nope, sure dont" response, lol). c'mon, i know the PC statement would be YOU CAN DO IT IF YOU SET YOUR MIND TO IT! but c'mon. you're playing in a tournament and you want to shoot 6+ shots better than you have ever shot before on that course? i would have to say no way too. and with that said, you probably went out and shot a 67 today, lol, cuz im usually wrong, hehe

EDIT: just saw your post where you said you shot a 76....not bad!

    • What brand is it? Are there actually items you can't buy online? If you want the Chinese stuff. I'd look closer to home first, even if they are also made in China. Some of the Temu stuff is stupid cheap and I'm not buying it.
    • For anyone in Europe, it seems they still got grips in stock here:  Puregrips   I may just order some myself. Having used only the Pure Pros I'm tempted to order DTX.
    • Day 323: another light day. Just putted on my mat for a bit. Working on start line and a good stroke.
    • Day 143 - Made some swings working on shallow hands in the backswing, a good weight shift, and more hip turn in the downswing.
    • Day 46: Really struggled today, maybe some fatigue from a long weekend with lots of yard work, family time, and two early rounds of golf. I just could not find the ball at all with full swings. Slow, fast, super slow, medium speed, it didn't matter. I was hitting all sorts of terrible shots; chunks, shanks, tops, pulls, pushes, basically every miss was a possibility. Stopped after about 20 balls and hit the mental reset and changed course to "still head" fundamental practice while making easy swings. Hit the ball well doing this. Stuck with it for about 15 balls, and then did a little pitching and chipping practice.
