I don't know who's best, but whenever I can get time to do it I'm going to Matt Swanson. I met him at a demo day and even got some free instruction. My chiropractor's daughter takes lessons from him too.

I used to take lessons from Matt Swanson when I was a kid (about 12-13 years ago), and he is by far one of the best teachers in the city. I don't really remember all too much of what I learned or how he taught, but I always here my dad say how great he was working with me. As far as "top tier" teachers, Jim Hardy comes to mind. He's the "one/two-plane swing" teacher. He lives out at Champions GC, but he has his own school with Peter Jacobsen somewhere in Houston. I know he used to spend a lot of time out at Fishcreek up north of town, but I don't know if he does anymore. Back when I was younger, my dad and I would go out early in the morning on the weekends to the far end of the driving range out at Champions. It's just be us, maybe 2-3 other regular golfers, then there would be Jim Hardy and his wife, Jackie Burke, Jay Hebert (1960 PGA Champion), and occasionaly other pros that are in town. Jim Hardy was always great to have watch your swing though because he isn't the type of teacher that's just telling you all he knows; he's always just watching your swing and then will intervene here or there. It's never an "information overload" type of lesson.

Brian Smith at the Swanson school is a good instructor as well.
