I have been a tiger fan since 97, and I admire the relationship he and his father had and still have!! Those two were like [Jordan and Phil] but on the golf course. He had to deal with the issue of his fathers health declining repidly and trying to play at the highest level at the same time! Lately Tiger game has improved greatly after the win-less streak and swing overhaul, I guess the question I'm hinting around to is will we see tiger focus go to that next level that only the greatest players and athletes are able to go too!!!!

Will he play at wing foot????

What do you guys think????

Yes.

I think you should familiarize yourself with the "add a poll" option.

I'm still expecting him to announce for the Memorial, but time is getting short.

I think the time for that passed last Friday.

Pretty sure I heard its tomorrow. They said that whatever he decides will undoubtedly steal the spotlight from whatever is going on at the Memphis tournament.

I hope this doesn't sound insensitive, but I'm surprised at all the publicity surrounding Tiger about this issue. I know it would be big news if he skips the U.S. Open (which he won't), but the media is making it out as if Tiger is going through something that nobody has ever gone through before. People die every day. They are husbands and fathers and sisters and children to loved ones. Every day, surviving family members grieve and continue to carry on with their lives. I'm sure hundreds of PGA Tour members have lost love ones over the years but only rarely is that mentioned. This isn't a bash on Tiger, but a bash on the media coverage that is using this as a chance to heap more accolades on thier darling. If Tiger wins the Open after this, the media will make it out to be the biggest story in golf history. In my opinion, its no more heroic than the guy or gal who went back to work on monday after the funeral for dad on friday.

My local newspaper published an article in todays newspaper about Tiger playing in the U.S. Open. To let you guys know he played a practice round at Winged Foot yesterday. Teed off at 10:00 am. Didnt say what he shot but did say he holed out on 18. The paper said he was wearing shorts and if you didnt know it was him, he looked like any other member playing a round of golf. But then again, who doesnt know Tiger. So its safe to say he'll be at Winged Foot.

I think only the crazy people in the world thought he would miss a major.

And yeah, I highly doubt that anyone qualified for the "if you didn't know it was him" portion of the "he looked like any other member" sentence. Heh heh heh. Imagine the beverage cart girl going "eh, it's just a black dude, they never buy anything... I'll just skip over this hole..."* * Goes without saying that I have no idea whether "black dudes" buy more or less beverages and snacks... just that the beer cart girl seemed the most likely person not to know Tiger Woods. Nobody in the pro shop should be able to say that!

Ya know they were dealing with Earl's bad health for years. When you watch someone die suffering from something like cancer for so long..it is almost a blessing when it is finally the end and they no longer are suffering. And the whole ordeal is very difficult for family. So even though they (the sick) are totally loved and missed. It's sometimes good when the sick suffering loved one finally goes. I am a nurse and worked with Hospice before. So I have seen these types of things.
Obviously Tiger was enormously close to his dad...sure it his hard on him. But I don't think there is anyone more mentally tough out there...he'll be OK

I'd really like to see him take the Open for Earl....that would be cool!

I gotta say that I'm a huge Tiger fan and always have been and I agree with you here. But as long as the media does what brings in the money, they will cover his return to the death. You will see seperate sections all over on their relationship and his death and if he would happen to win like you said, we might be hearing about this for many years to come. Either way, best of luck to Tiger.

well said. I am not making light of how hard it can be but at some point you ( and everybody else) has to move on with their lives. it is time for Tiger to get back to the grinding stone.
