mizuno mp52?

I don’t own any set of golf clubs other than 3 rusted irons I managed to rummage in my garage. I picked up golfing a little over a week ago and I have to say I am getting hooked.

I was fortunate to run into a mutual friend at the local driving range who happened to have an extra set of mizuno mp52 that he bought but for his brother but to make the long story short, his brother has no interest in golfing. So, I was offered to take them off his hands for $400 plus free lessons as long as hes there practicing.

I tried looking for reviews on the 52 and majority of the reviews were positive. My question is that I just picked up golfing, so I do not know if these irons are too professional for me. I found used sets of irons on craigslist and on authorized golf websites that sell clubs from anywhere from $100-250.

Would picking up the mizunos be a good choice? He stated that once youre hooked in golf, its an addiction so might as well get a set of good clubs to improve on…

Lastly, the shafts were S300. Since I'm new, my swing speed wont be like 90+, so should I avoid a stiff shaft?

Ok, so here's what you need to know. Even if you just picked up golf, the MP52's for $400 is a steal! If I were you, i would jump all over the deal.

As far whether they are too professional for you, they are not. I have a set of Taylor Made tour MB/TP which are pure blades, and i'm happy to struggle with them because even though I took a step back going from cavity back to blades, after a years time, my swing has become more consistent and I really do understand my swing alot better. The MP-52 are high quality but according to Mizuno, very forgiving. Those were the ones I was ( ) that close to getting until a friend of mine got me the Taylor Made's at a discount from $1000 to below $475. Mizuno's are always at the top of the list of irons as many people will argue they are the best irons out there. I love my TM's, but at some point, I can see myself moving over to Mizuno irons in the future.

In regards to the shaft, stick with the S300. Your swing matches up closely with that so I wouldnt worry too much about it. I swing a bit faster and have x100 shafts which i find too stiff and am making the switch to S300 shafts in the future.

By all means go for it. You have to remember these few things:

• The MP-52 is part of Mizuno's players' line, but they're more of a game-improvement hybrid than a pure players' iron. They shouldn't be too hard for you to hit.
• If the clubs are like new or very lightly used (as the seller's words would suggest), then $400 is a heck of a deal. MP=52s sell for around $900 new at retail.
• As for the stiff shafts, if you're a young guy in decent athletic shape, your swing should grow into them as your game develops. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Absolutely agree with all that has been posted already. Just wanted to add that while at the golf store today I say a few (3) trade-in 52 sets all going for $679+. One of the sets had some nicks, nothing deep or would effect the playability. So, for $400....jump! They are clubs that will last you for a very, very long time. Plus, you will love the way they feel and probably practice more as a result.

Another thing to consider, since they are Mizuno and Forged clubs, you can adjust the lie anytime. So get them, get a fitting and make necessary adjustments.

Oh, and I get my set in a week!

I have the 52s. Love them to death and they feel so good. The good thing is that they will give you playability with forgiveness. Best of both worlds. If you don't hit it well, you'll feel it. It's good to know.

You can't go wrong with MP-52's and at $400.00 bucks,... well if you don't take them, give me your friends phone number and I'll buy them!!!

Seriously these are great irons, outstanding feel and performance, with a surprising amount of forgiveness. The MP-52's can offer the 15 handicap golfer with forgiveness and the scratch golfer with the performance and capability he requires of an iron.

No doubt a great deal. A great fit? Probably not but if you put in some work they will work fine for you. Just expect alot of "thud" shots till you learn to hit 'em.
