Getting onto Bethpage black before the open

catfel good luck on sunday weather should be nice but course will play LONG due to all the rain weve had and we will get thunder showers on Sat. night.

Thanks Flap,

But I can't say the Black has ever, in my experience, ever played anything but long.

Miss the fairway, too bad. Just hack it back onto the fairway, take the extra stroke and bogey is your new par. Too many times I've tried hitting an approach from the rough and ended up back in the rough or worse.

I expect to get my a$$ handed to me, and enjoy every minute of it.

      Day 51 (yesterday was 50, not 59 -- that was a typo).  I didn't have a ton of time today.  I hit a dozen balls with a 6-iron in my practice room.   Amazingly, after this I did the ShotScope analysis of yesterday's round;  my approach play was at the 5 hcp level.  That's pretty darn good, but unfortunately for my score, some of that came from hitting a few good recovery shots.  But I also hit some really good approach shots that weren't from trouble!

      Shot a 37 today! Palmer Course, PGA National. Really fun. 6/9 GIR, no lost balls. The double and the bogey were both three putts from like 35 feet or so.  The birdie at the last was really fun. I stood over that fifteen footer and thought wow I’m really about to make this, aren’t I? And I hearted it. Really fun. It’s like 9000 degrees outside but I battled through it well. Good times.

      I had been in a bit of a slump for the month of June. Handicap index has slowly risen, and there were few sub-80 scores. Today was a different story at Leslie Park GC. Lots of solid shots, GIR's, up & downs, for a 77 (7.8 differential). As with most rounds, there were a few loose shots and crappy putts, but it was a good day.
