Recommendations on first "real" set of clubs

Whereas I've read almost unanimous praise for the Big Berthas, I've read mixed things about the ibrids. Since the ibrids are neither irons nor hybrids, I chose to avoid them. That's why I went with the 3-PW set for the Big Bertha 06, then got preowned BB 06 AW and SW elsewhere, and then got some separate hybrids to have for when I want to use them.

I am sure you'd be fine with the ibrids, but you might want to consider the traditional BB 08 set (with no ibrids), or you could save some cash and go for the BB 06 set. You can always buy separate hybrids for pretty cheap (Heavenwood hybrids for example).

Continuing in my research (i really over-think things before i make purchases lol) i've come across the Cobra s9's

According to the 08 golf digest hot list and from what i saw on forums, they are really good irons for a high handicapper. Only problem is that i dont know where i could hit them around here. I'll have to check my local shop at home.

Any opinions on the s9's?

Went to golfsmith today and tried out the Cobra s9's. Hit 15-20 balls with them and i fell in love. Every shot went straight and felt fantastic.

Ordered them from ebay about a half an hour ago.

Not to be critical (OK, I am going to be critical.) Why didn't you purchase them at Golfsmith? You understand that it costs them money to maintain a facility that will allow you to try out the clubs before you buy them, don't you?

If you have no intention of purchasing clubs from them, is it right to take advantage of the store by trying out the clubs in their facility?

exactly why my local shop now requires you to pay $20 to demo clubs. You get it back as store credit towards new clubs.

Now that sounds perfectly fair.

As a consumer, I will take every advantage I can in the marketplace. If I can do some free club demos at a store and buy them elsewhere, I will. If the store doesn't like that, then they should change their policy. Charging a modest fee for demoing is a reasonable solution.
