I probably won't even watch it. How's that?

I'm bordering on the same thing myself. I thought this morning about calling friends to see if they really really wanna watch it... otherwise, I might just catch up on some other stuff on TV or watch a movie or something. Or even go out to a movie. Might be one of the best times to find a good seat.

To each their own. I know I haven't been into them lately when I didn't care about either of the teams. Of course, for me, this one is different. But yeah, I bet you could get a really good seat at a movie.

I hear there's going to be a good documentary on. Something about bald eagle, I think, and how even though it's our national bird, the darn patriots are slaying eagles left and right. Something like that.

It's on the Discovery Channel. Or Fox, maybe. Same time as the Super Bowl.

I've never been a football guy. I'll be working on the course anyway.

There are a buttload of pools floating around this place, the biggest of which is a $100/square with 100 squares pool. I hate pools, but for a chance of up to $10,000 I wish I would have known about it before all the squares filled up.

I am a true blue New England fan since the time I can remember. Today, at work, we were taking about how ho hum the super bowl seems to be. Some how, compared with the playoffs, it seems anticlimactic. With me, NE's first super bowl win was very exciting and the second was unexpected so it also brought some excitement. But this year they were expected to be there so the only surprise will be in checking the quarter results against my pool numbers. And I will do that after the game is over emulating a lottery ticket. I probably should use the time to write or read.

Congratulations to New England (once again). Philly (and Aaron), perhaps you have to go back four straight years before you get a win?

I deserved that for my Pittsburgh comments. I congratuate New England as well. They epitomize the word "team."

But to all who are not New England fans, remember that all of your teams were sitting at home tonight, not playing in the game. The Eagles played hard, played close, but came up short. I am proud of them. We all know why they didn't win. The mistakes, the lack of hurry up offense, and the Patriots sheer will to win. But we will be back next year.

Never mind the fact that the Eagles had a much easier conference through which to gallop on their way

to the Super Bowl...

Your team, and the Colts, got whooped. My team wasted away opportunities to win and still almost did. I don't even want to hear any of that crap about conferences because the Eagles gave the Patriots all they could handle, and no fan of any other team can say the same. (And don't bring up that regular season win over them by Pittsburgh, because that sure didn't mean anything when the playoffs started.)

Aaron, cut the crap. A teeny tiny bit of ribbing and a statement of fact shouldn't turn you into a defensive jerk. The Eagles came out of an easier conference. That's all I said, and "no fan of any other team" would say differently.

Remember how you felt when your team lost the AFC Championship game? Well, multiply it by 100. This was the freaking Super Bowl. One that Philly fans have been waiting decades for.

Hell yes I am going to get angry when people do nothing but disrespect the team. The effort wasn't good enough last night, no doubt. But for people that root for teams who couldn't even make it to the SB, and that lost much worse than the Eagles did, to talk smack... that doesn't cut it.

Multiply it by 100? C'mon! I was a Steeler fan when they last went to the Super Bowl and O'Donnell threw two perfect passes... to the other team. Been there, done that. 100 times is an exaggeration.

Your team was an underdog and isn't even the second best team in the NFL. They advanced through a weak conference and were beaten - as everybody except Eagles fans expected them to be - in the Super Bowl. Even with TO.

Facts ain't smack talk, Aaron. Grow up. The Eagles came through a weaker conference.

But if you want some smack talk, here you go:

1. New England
2. Pittsburgh
3. Philadelphia
4. Indianapolis
5. Atlanta
6. Chargers
7. NY Jets
....
32. San Francisco

If the Eagles had played in the AFC, they wouldn't have made it to the Super Bowl. Yep, that thar's an opinion, but it's widely shared. They'd have lost to either New England or Pittsburgh. The Iggles running game is poor enough that they're a one-dimensional team (resulting in, what, 360 yards passing last night from McNabb?), and good defenses feast on one-dimensional teams.

If this, if that. Whatever, Erik.

Uhm, the only "if" was "if the Iggles played in the AFC, they'd have not made the Super Bowl." Again, a widely held opinion. After all, they lost to the AFC's team, did they not?

Aaron, give it up. You freaked out because I said the AFC was a tougher conference. Chill out.

Thanks for telling me what I did. I didn't freak out. In fact, I wrote a post earlier about the AFC and how I never once said they weren't a tougher conference. It either didn't get posted or someone deleted it.

The toughness of the AFC conference doesn't mean anything to me. My team doesn't play in the AFC. You are the one who will not give up this emotional "what if" scenario that Pittsburgh would've beaten the Eagles. I'm not the one who needs to let it go. My team played the champs closer. Period. End of damn discussion.

    • First off please forgive me if this is not a proper post or not in the proper location, still learning the ropes around here. Second, it's important that I mention I am very new to the game with only about 10 rounds of golf under my belt, most being 9 holes. Only this year have I started playing 18. That being said, I am hooked, love the game and am very eager to learn and improve. To give you an idea of my skill, the last 2 18 rounds I played were 110 and 105. Not great at all, however I am slowly improving as I learn. Had been having bad slicing issues with the driver and hybrids but after playing some more and hitting the range, I've been able to improve on that quite a bit and have been hitting more straight on average. Irons have always come easier to me as far as hitting straight for some reason. Wedges have needed a lot of improvement, but I practice chipping about 20-30 mins about 3-5 times a week and that's helped a lot. Today I went to the range and started to note down some distance data, mind you I am averaging the distances based off my best guess compared to the distance markers on the range. I do not currently own a range finder or tracker. From reading some similar posts I do understand that filling gaps is ideal, but I am having a some issues figuring out those gaps and understanding which clubs to keep and remove as some gaps are minimal between clubs. Below is an image of the chart I put together showing the clubs and average distances I've been hitting and power applied. For some reason I am hitting my hybrids around the same distances and I am not sure why. Wondering if one of them should be removed. I didn't notice a huge loft difference either. The irons I have are hand me downs from my grandfather and after playing with them a bit, I feel like they're just not giving me what could potentially be there. The feel is a bit hard/harsh and underwhelming if that makes sense and I can't seem to get decent distances from them. Wondering if I should be looking to invest in some more updated irons and if those should be muscle backs or cavity backs? My knowledge here is minimal. I have never played with modern fairway woods, only the classic clubs that are actually wood and much smaller than modern clubs. I recently removed the 4 and 5 woods from my bag as I was never using them and I don't hit them very well or very far. Wondering if I should look into some more modern fairway wood options? I appreciate any feedback or advice anyone is willing to give, please forgive my lack of knowledge. I am eager to learn! Thank you.
    • I would think that 3 in a row with the same players might get some behind the scenes examination from the SCGA if they were suspect.  Are there any clubs questioning the results?
    • What simple fact? A golf match is not a coin flip — there is a fact for you. I'm trying to help you, and you're throwing out what could easily be called sour grapes. Come with FACTS, not weak analogies. Then you've got nothing. Hopefully they've done a better job of making their case. 😛
    • It's pretty close. The odds of a 50/50 shot going your way 21 times are greater than 1 in a million!  I guess your point is, that simple fact is not enough to declare these guys dirty rotten sandbaggers. I disagree, but fair enough. I posted it here on the message board to get different perspectives, after all.  I probably won't be digging further into specific scores. I have no dog in this fight beyond a generalized contempt for sandbagging. With that said, it would not surprise if a lot of clubs shared my concern and were grousing about it to the SCGA.
