Hi Gang,
Well, I finally got something from a TV golf aid program that has helped. Watching the golf fix and listening to MB about the lag in the swing. I've always hit my driver about 220 with some extra yards in the roll but have incorporated the lag to create additional swing speed and WOW!!!! what a difference. Played yesterday and have increased to 285-290. At the age of 61 I think that that's not too bad. I'd suggest this for everyone who wants more distance. What a difference.

How exactly did you build the extra lag?

Hi Guys,
I concentrated on keeping my hands in front of the club head until the last mili secocond. It feels somewhat like a whip action at the bottom of the swing which accellerates the club head thru the hitting zone at contact. You have to do it slowly and watch what is happenning at the bottom and then try it at full speed. It takes no more effort but tempo is key to success. Kinda hard to describe in words but you can probably call up past episodes of the Golf Fix and watch MB explain it. I don't think it was more than a couple of weeks ago. Good Luck with this. The best way to describe what it looks like would be to hold your hands at the bottom of the swing at about the center of your stance with the shaft of the club still at almost 90* still on its way down.

Hey $2, I've never had anyone ask me to play a $2 Nassau and have always wondered what the hell it is. A little help here for your ignorant friend.

A Nassau is a common bet, I assume we play it the way most people do. We bet on match play, $2 for the front nine, $2 for the back nine, and $2 for the overall. Sometimes we play first 6 holes, second 6 holes, third six holes instead.

Hi Gang,

I saw that tip as well(I tape them all) and it's a great point to learn and improve on to create distance. If you want to study lag then study Camilo Villegas's swing. Now that guy is ALL LAG,,,and he's long!

    • May I just say that these are insightful and extremely pertinent observations. I think it is fair to be skeptical of almost anything involving a celebrity. Or that is posted on YouTube - for example, many of the “heart-warming” animal rescue videos are obviously staged. We are supposed to believe that people just happened to be ready to shoot professional quality video when they spotted that puppy? Ridiculous. And AI is only going to make all of this much, much worse.  A lot of the post-Open praise for Bryson seems to be along the lines of, not so much what a great guy he is, but what a savvy user of media tools and what an efficient self-brander he has become. I suppose this makes sense because a lot of people have goals in that direction and might look at him as a model.
    • As I understand it, the score is considered "returned" when the 15 minute period has elapsed AND the player has left the scoring area.  That's the way I read the abbreviated explanation you quoted, but I haven't read the complete official wording.   I don't know the details of the "scoring system" or what it means by the score being "validated".  As you and I both know, its the detailed wording of the rule that matters, not the press release summarizing the changes.  This complication is one reason I'd resist making the change, rules in general should be as simple as possible, and this change makes it much more complicated in my mind.   That it happened to a "star" is what made it important to them.  If it happens to a nobody, there would be no change.  Or if it happened to a "villain", think Patrick Reed before he left for LIV, nobody would care.  Its not "who often", its "who".
    • Right when you sit on the toilet.
    • Matt, all of the above requirements to certify the scores and steps of any changes still stand. A DQ is very much in effect for not meeting any of them after the 15 extra minutes to use an honest eraser (EDIT: with the marker's agreement) if necessary.
