Take a break from the game for a week or two. Find another type of activity to do to fill the spare time, then in a couple of weeks, go back to golf.

In the Ogio Kingpin bag:

Wilson Staff Ci-11 4-GW (4I is out of the bag for a hybrid, PW and up were replaced by Edel Wedges)
TaylorMade RBZ 5 & 3 Fairway Woods

Cobra Baffler T-Rail 3 & 4 Hybrids

Edel Forged 48, 52, 56, 60, and 64* wedges (different wedges for different courses)

That has happened to me over the years, though not in recent years. Do this: take a club you have some confidence in, 5 iron whatever, stick a tee in the hole of the grip (the butt), set-up nice, swing easy always trying to have that tee pointed at the ball on the downswing. This will keep you somewhat on plane and delay an early release of the club with the hands. Nice and easy, back to the target, stomach to the target, good tempo, nicey and smooth, the tee always pointing to the ball. You'll surprise yourself.

I'm down to a 10 handicap. At this rate, I'll get to scratch at 90 years old!

First of all, relax. You can play this game. The best advice I can give is Simplify and get back to extreme basics. Start with grip, then posture, then relax over ball, don't squeeze the blood out of the club. Try a momentum type swing (in other words practice taking the clubhead forward of address position and then simply let momentum take the club back to the top, don't manipulate the club. Keep your head relatively still (you can allow some lateral movement). Don't over think and don't get frozen over the ball. The next thing I would suggest is find an instructor at a reputable teaching facility. I had a rough first part of this year for a variety of reasons but my game has come around to the point that I'm striking the ball better than ever. Don't give up, don't give in, stay positive and you'll come around.

I agree, after a crappy round or two I think to myself "Screw this, I am taking 2 weeks off".....but then I am at the range 2 days later, then golfing that weekend. Sorry about the layoff, that sucks and will effect your game. Golf is a game to be enjoyed lost job/divorce/etc.. make it hard to really enjoy it. But smashing the piss out of balls at the driving range can be good therapy I've found. Or.... As Mr. Blutowski said to Flounder...." My advice to you...is to start drinking heavily" j/k

I'm so discouraged. This game has not been fun so far this year.

Dude, just thank the golf gods you don't shoot like that all the time, because I do. My best game ever is a 104, and I average a 120. I don't want to hear it. Golf is a frustrating game, but hearing people whine about shooting in the 100's just ticks me off, because my bad games are over 150, but I still love the game and I am never ready to throw in the towel. Just remember there is always a worse golfer than you, ALWAYS.

Also, if you check, the average golf score in America has been 100 for the last 120 years, so unless you are a paid professional, get over it.

First get a job!
Second dont play golf until you have a job
third losing a job is no big deal
fourth be happy your healthy and alive
fifth dont let being canadian make you feel bad j/k

ive been fired from some pretty sweet jobs that paid mad money for a 30 year old and you know what? I thank god that i got fired!

I am making so much more money now than i could have ever dreamed of! It hurts for a few months but this too will soon pass. The last time i got fired, was 5 years ago and if i was to change careers i already have a backup plan. Once you get your job, work on a backup plan look into new areas of business. Life is a lot like course management, every phase of life has its hazards and triumphs. I havent even turned the corner yet! But amazingly i dont let the mistakes of yesterday affect the next hole.

I just wish i could take this approach to my golf game!

Chin up! No whining allowed.
