When you say your right is "open" too much, I assume you mean it is turned toward your right, meaning you can see your fingernails. This is also called a STRONG right hand grip. The stronger your right hand, the more you will close the club face at address. The weaker, or the more you turn it over your left hand prior to your swing, the more you will leave the club open.

It seems you have the opposite in mind. It may be the problem is with your left hand, it may be too weak.

Are you a righty or a lefty? If your a lefty, that and see that many knuckles would be a weaker than normal grip. If your a righty, that would be a strong grip.

Regardless of what type of grip you are using (eg. overlap, interlock) and how strong or weak the grip is, your palms should be facing each other.

Otherwise your hands will be fighting each other throughout your swing, and you won't be able to hinge/cock easily.

I'm always amazed how important a setup with good fundamentals trumps almost anything else.

Your right hand should mirror your left hand. Your left should be on the stronger side (rolled more towards your right, with the V at your right shoulder) and it sounds like you have your right hand turned too far over to the left side.
