I have the hardest time keeping my focus after dunking a ball in a water hazard. I had a great round today except for two holes that I tripled, both of them after shots into the water. How do you regain your focus after washing one? I put too much pressure on the next shot trying to make a hero shot and save par or bogey.

make a joke about it loosen up and try again

I put the shot behind me. On Thursday I played at this course that has a 120-yard par 3 that has an island green. I duffed my first shot into the water, kinda laughed it off and stuck my 2nd shot about 10' away from the pin and 1-putter for par.
I dont dwell on the previous shot and I dont look ahead to the next shot. The only shot that matters is the one Im about to hit and thats what I focus on.

Wouldn't that be a bogey?

First shot = 1 stroke Water = 1 stroke On to green = 1 stroke Putt = 1 stroke

Don't try to make the hero shot, that's the key. You've gotta accept the consequences for what you did, even if it means taking a double.

What are the odds that the "second" shot was teed up?

Perfectly acceptable if he hits again from the tee box... but he's still hitting his 3rd shot no matter where he plays it from. The only way to make par is if he holes it from there.

Wouldn't that almost suck to hole your second ball for a par ? :)

That's what they call bittersweet.

Ask Fred Couples, he did it on the 17th at Sawgrass.

I think Mr3putt was talking about hitting the ball out of the water.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

take dead aim, refuse to let any negative thoughts creep into your head, and swing away.

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
