Next year will be our 12 annual 28 man golf outing. I have been running this event for the past 8 years and we typically play somewhere in northern Michigan and it is always the weekend after mothers day. This year we played Grand Traverse Resort. The resort is absolutely beautiful and the courses are some of the best around. The problem is we often run into shi**y weather. We've had years with 80* sunny degree days and we've had years where there has been snow on the ground. The date is set in stone and there is no chance of changing weekends but this year I'd like to move this event south rather then north. Does anybody have any recommendations on golf resorts within 5 hours of Detroit? Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Pennsylvania? Multiple courses are a must and accommodations are especially important.

Thanks in advance

This is about 6 hours from Detroit but top notch. They used to play a PGA tour event there.

Looks nice, I sent them an RFQ for next year. Any other suggestions?

Load the boys up on a plane and head to Vegas.

I think Spirit and Southwest fly out of Detroit, best accommodations on the planet, and more courses than you can count. Not to mention the weather in May is terrific. A flying/van renting trip might take a little more planning and $$$$, but Vegas rocks! Especially on a boys trip! (not for nothing, but Nemacolin is in my backyard, I agree it's an outstanding facility, but with what you would pay for a golf trip there, you could do a nice Vegas adventure for the same bucks. Plus, it's 2 courses at Mystic Rock vs. hundreds in Vegas)

6 hours from Detroit is Lake Geneva, WI

There is Geneva National

Grand Geneva

Hawk's View

and a few others in the area.

Traverse City is beautiful this time of year.

oops, sorry, I see you've been.

How about Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin

or Tree Tops

If you want guaranteed nice weather this time of year, look into flying to Utah (SLC) or New Mexico (ALQ) ---not too hot like Vegas and PHX can be July/August. Also cheaper than California

Weekend after Mother's day March 18th.

The guaranteed good weather in March is in PHX, San Antonio, Austin, Florida, Alabama, Vegas. Will get back with resort recommendations in those area.

March is a tricky time of year. Rarely, we can get severe cold fronts and snow even in Dallas, Texas all the way up to Easter. For guaranteed good weather, your only options are as above. I'll list some resorts with multiple courses.

For PHX Arizona check out.
