I can't. I just got one from my brother and I can't hit it consistently at all? Is there some trick that I'm not aware of?

...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

The trick is to not take such a big swing and acelerate and hit down on it! it takes practice to get it down

Depends what you're trying to do. A flop shot can easily have a poor outcome, but a half or full swing or chip should not pose too much trouble. What is the problem? Blading it or hitting it fat?

Yeah, I borrowed a friend's a decided to just stay with the 54 deg SW for now. I did try a 58 deg Titleist the other day and thought it was worth putting in the bag...

One time I'll hit it fat, then I'll hit it thin. So, should I hit down on it, or "sweep it" more.

you should hit down on it for sure! if you try and sweep it you will hit it thin everytime! just take a 3/4 swing and acelerate!

It depends. With a steep swing you definately wants to hit down on the ball. With a more shallow swing you can come more under it, but you still do not want to hit the ground first. A steep swing and ground first results in a fat shot and little distance. A shallow swing and ground first results in blading it and anything can happen. It's not that hard to analyze after a shot.

Acceleration is important, don't hesitate or hold back, it's deadly for a 60º wedge. A good rhythmic swing where you hit the ball first. Don't be afraid of taking a divot. If you hold back, it's easy to bounce the club off the ground and blade it. With a better tempo the same shot will be fat. Of course, with a very shallow swing you'll bounce off no matter how fast you go as long as you hit the ground first.

It takes some time to get comfortable with how hard to hit it and not being afraid of hitting it too far. Play around with it, hit some buckets on the range and you'll get used to it.
In my opinion, the worst shot is blading the ball. It can fly the green you are aiming at. A fat shot is preferable as you are still short of the green and most of the time got a decent lie. The more you try to hold back and lose tempo, the easier it gets to blade the ball and the longer it will go. Think tempo, acceleration and ball impact.

The big thing when I started using a lob wedge, was that the iron was so short and I found myself not keeping my shoulders at a good level and I would blade the crap out of it. Once I finally started keeping my head and shoulders down it was just as easy to hit the lob wedge as my pitching wedge.

a 60's use greatly depends on lie and distance from target.

flat lie on a fairway...swing down on it.

lying in rough sweep under.

to help you learn the club, lean forward a little and deloft it gradually then you will feel what is needed in a 1/4 1/2 ----> full swing. Slowly go back to normal loft and this will help you realize its potential & limitations.

from 100 on in I can stick a green with my 60*.. its getting there 1st with consistency thats my problem.

today I drove much better though, by opening stance of my rear foot.

I never take a full swing with mine. As a tall guy, doing this gets me all unlevel and I tend to blade and chunk the shot. A solid 3/4 swing works every time. Well, most of the time .
