i tried doing that today for the second time, but the first time actually playing.

i dont think i had one good shot. everyone was right (not shanked) or was topped.

really all i have been doing to hit down on it is start off with my hands ahead of the ball and most of my weight on my left foot. Then kinda staring at something 2 inches ahead of the ball

what are some things i could do to help me with that?

1) keep your hands way ahead of the ball and place your ball behind your rear foot and you will hit the ball first.

2) practice this with your wedges

3) watch some instructional videos and they will help you visualize making contact with the ball first.

With irons or wedges? With wedges I keep my more weight on my front foot but not for my irons.

okay but when i put the ball in the back of my stance i hit it left like i said...if it was straight it would be a good shot... is that because im not getting my wrists through quick enough because the ball is further back?

when you hit down on the ball is i supposed to be lower trajectory or around the same as if you would "pick" or "scoop" it?

Lower. And you should never scoop the ball, and very, very few people can get away with truly "picking" it.

Try moving the ball up a little bit in your stance.

A quote from Kris
...is that college bball really isn't "lower tier". The better teams have their rosters filled with guys who could play in the NBA. hell, guys used to come straight from high school to the NBA. I really don't think there's much of a difference skill-wise between the two.

If it's too far back, sometimes that encourages you to hang back. Fat and thin contact results. If you move it up, it encourages you to move into the back of the ball.

That is, if it's not appropriately far forward already.

I DIDNT HAVE 1 CRISP SHOT with my irons and still shot 5 over!

i guess i just dont know how to hit down on the ball me being a picker my whole life.

right now what i am doing to hit down on the ball...

*little steeper swing
*ball back in stance
*weight on left foot
*hands started ahead of ball

thats all and i just cant seem to do it...i either chunk it or i blade it.

what other stuff could i try, if i could get this down i could by around even!

thanks!
