Greens hit

How does one keep track of this stat? Is it the number of times you hit the green within range of one of your clubs? What if you play a hole safe and lay it up short? Etc, etc

On with 2 left to par.

Basically having a birdie putt, getting on the green in:

1(par 3)
2(4)
3(5)

Lots of people keep track of this stat. It means if you hit a ball on a green and still have 2 strokes to make your par. For example a par 3 your first shot has to make the green for a par 4 your 2nd and for a par 5 your 3rd.

Very useful stat. I also recommend keeping fairway stats. This is an easy way:

One column for GIR: V or X
One column for FIR: \||/ Place an X on what you hit. Middle = fairway. Left = left rough. Right = right rough. You could also write F, LR and RR. Fairway, left rough, right rough.

Finding the green is crucial for scoring low.

That's the stat I need to work on the most....i'm somewhere around 20%....it's really bad

No doubt. I only hit 2 of 9 last night. 1 bird, 1 par. My irons suck. Had 5 1 putts and walked away with a 43.

GIR's are my weakest stat also. I am not a very long hitter, so that contributes but it seems I am often only a few feet from the green and having to make delicate pitch shots to cozy up for par (which doesn't happen often enough).
