Great read from Rick Reilly at ESPN: Click Here

Two Down O'Connor, World's Most Avid Golf Gambler, was watching replays of Lucas Glover winning the U.S. Open and was severely disgruntled.

"Look at this!" Two Down said as he pointed at Glover, who was politely accepting the trophy on the 18th green at Bethpage Black. "I mean look how boring he is! He looks like he was just named Proctology Patient of the Year."

Funny article, but it's got to be humbling for a guy like Glover. You're there accepting the trophy surrounded by a ton of guys you know are much better golfers than you are. I think I'd feel more than a little silly and embarrassed if I was accepting a golf trophy in front of people who have won multiple Majors and hooting and screaming like I was the freaking king of golf.

Not everyone has to display a wide range of emotion. Glover is a modest low-key guy.

Yeah, I think this is simply a face value article; totally lighthearted. I don't think he was trying to be serious in any way.

That's why I thought it was great, because at the end he basically says, "that's why he's on tour, and you're not".

He was pretty funny on David Letterman. Here is the Top Ten list he did in case you missed it:

The Top 10 Things Lucas Glover Would Like To Say After Winning The U.S. Open

10. I’d like to thank Tiger Woods for letting someone else win.
9. I started playing golf in March.
8. I forgot my wedge yesterday, so I used a rake.
7. Honestly, I’m just glad to be out of the rain.
6. I had Phil Mickelson in the office pool.
5. Ladies, my last name isn’t “Glover”—it’s “G. Lover.”
4. I drive for show, I putt for dough.
3. Does anybody have a phone number for that Jon & Kate lady?
2. If there’s anything more exciting than watching golf, it’s ten lame jokes read by a guy who plays golf.
1. Even I have never heard of me.

Better to compare superbowl victories to the Ryder Cup wins.

Golf in general is a game mastered by hyper-controlling one's emotions. No surprise that winners in this sport are less outward in their displays than in other sports.

Funny article, though. I can relate to those guys a lot - I talk that kinda smack, half-drunk, sunburned, after an enjoyable, albeit terrible scoring, round.

From what I saw of Lucas after the win, he was quite choked up emotionally. That's what kind of a milestone this is - a grown man crying on t.v. after winning a golf game.

I seriously doubt that Glover was embarrassed or felt silly to be accepting the trophy in front of people who are multiple major winners. I can also guarantee you that he didn't feel as though he was in front of people who are much better golfers than he is. No one would make it very long on tour if they walked around in awe of their peers...........

hooting and screaming like I was the freaking king of golf. " And you can't tell me that the US Open wasn't full of guys who would be at least a bit intimidated playing alongside someone like Tiger ;)

I'm sure it didn't help his celebratory mood much that the crowds were roaring for Phil and Duval (and Tiger, of course), while you could hear a pin drop when Glover walked up to the green. The disappointment in the stands was palpable.

Well, I think part of the "let down" if you will, at least for some of us folks who don't watch golf religiously, was partly associated with Phil bogeying on a couple of those last few holes and taking himself out of contention. At least for me, anyway. I would not consider myself a Phil fan, however I did pick up a Callaway Diablo driver at Golfsmith and, therefore, was very interested to see how he finished on Sunday.

Also, Glover didn't seem to show any traditional joy or emotion on the 18th, maybe a little bit when he hugged his wife afterward. I must say though that listening to his brief interview afterward I thought he came off as very genuine and approachable. I would imagine he was still in a little bit of shock just trying to let it all soak in. Who knows, maybe he tore it up in the clubhouse afterward

Stole that from Zach Johnson after he won the Masters.

Well then David Letterman stole it from himself.

I commented before about how they all seem to get that one.

I just want to reiterate that this article was completely in jest. The entire thing is written in a tongue-in-cheek style.

I just that some of the lines were hilarious to read. My favorite was, "I'd like to thank (pause) my sweet ass for being so good!"

Funny stuff.

    • The first issue Erik spoke about is something we worked on for my swing during both GEARS sessions. GEARS was showing my pelvis center moving towards the ball during the back swing. I wasn’t the 4” guy though! This forced me to correct on the downswing to give myself space. My hip rotation was to high as well. We corrected it by first getting the weight off my heels in my stance and getting my posture correct. Then the feel was shifting back into my right hip at a 45 degree angle. This kept my pelvis center from moving towards the ball at the start of the backswing. I also didn’t sway back as much as I felt I did because of the angle I was shifting. Feel Ain’t Real. The cool thing about GEARS is as you work on something you can see the exact (Real) change happening. On video, it is much harder to spot this issue because of the 2D nature of filming. But I know what to look for now. Sadly, I was hurt all last year and most of this year so I really haven’t been able to work on it much. I did do a lot of backswing work though.
