Cheap Range Finder

As I am not looking to spend much money, I would like to find something so I don't have to hunt down distances. It doesn't have to be perfect, because I am not a pro with my clubs so I am not going to need the yardage to the EXACT yard, but close I would really like. I found this cheap range finder for under 20 dollars. I know it's not the most detailed one you can get obviously, but I'm wondering if it's accurate. For that cheap I can't think it's very accurate? Does anyone have any further information or first-hand use of this product?

Really any info. is helpful here as I do not know too much about range finders in general.

Oh. Someone had mentioned in another thread you could get a cheap GPS at walmart for 20 bucks. Now I feel like a tool.

I saw a RangeFinder for $20 at my local Wal-Mart the other day(can't remember the brand). I was thinking about picking one up but didn't know how accurate they'd be.

I don't seem to see it on their website though.

Assuming you didn't steal what's in your bag, you know that you pay for quality. Why are you so interested in getting something "cheap" when dropping $300 on a Leupold or Bushnell rangefinder would probably better serve you (and still be on par with what you spent on your driver, putter, or iron set).

But to answer your question, there aren't huge fundamental differences in most rangefinders. In the more expensive products, you are probably going to see better lenses, which probably won't be noticeable, and more advanced software. Assuming each rangefinder can burst and resolve a laser pulse in a time period on the same order of magnitude of the clock cycle, they will be equally accurate in calculating distance. Whether or not it is the distance you are looking for is another question (i.e. pinseeker mode).

Yeah, save up and get a laser. You might still be using it 15 years from now.

Ive got an old Bussnell before pin seeker technology. It is great inside of 125 but I can't get a flag outside of 140-150. It works for me because if I am 155 or 162, it is a 7 iron. The only time I need exact distances is inside of 130. Very helpful inside of 100. I can actually dial that in (I know, I am surprised too) I would imagine you could get one on ebay for pretty cheap.

The only thing I've spent more than $100 on is my hybrid/iron set($400) and my bag($110).

Everything else was $80 or less.

Cheap rangefinder = oxymoron.

That said, I fully plan on doing what everyone else is suggesting and saving up to get one. They seem to be well worth the money, I just don't have the cash for it yet.

Yes the $20 one won't work. About the only way to go any cheaper would be to buy a non golf rangefinder. If you get one used for hunting it will be cheaper and the only thing you will miss is the pin seeking tech and slope adjustments.
