Not sure if this is the right place for it, so feel free to move it if necessary.

I started playing golf last year but have been consistently improving this summer. My best score (as of now) is a 48 for the back 9 of a course rated 69.4/112. That was 2 weeks ago; I'm hoping to play later this week and am anticipating an 18 hole score to be in the low to mid 90s. I don't know if any of you have played in the Golf Galaxy Tour but there's a 2 player best ball tournament relatively near where I live for mid August. I'm hoping to play with my uncle, and was wondering what tips / suggestions you have for someone playing in his/her first tournament. I figured the Golf Galaxy Tournament would be a decent place to start as there are usually only 20 people who play in the tournaments near me (based on previous results and this years results of the tournaments played so far) and the scores are within my range. For example, here are the results of last years event for the course at which I plan on playing: Results

1) have fun playing with your uncle
2) start a pre-shot routine for every shot even putting
3) play within your abilities and play your shot of the day
5) use the tee box to your benefit left side for draws and right side for fades
6) be respectful of other players
7) relax and have fun
8) practice your short game including putting.
9) if possible go early and get use to the speed of the greens

Don't worry so much but rather just play one shot at each time. Focus on the shot at hand, not on "what you want/need to shoot." This helps me a little bit, but I also seem to tense up in tournaments despite playing in about 15-20 of them...you'll be nervous but just keep your swing thoughts very simple and you'll be fine...

good luck.
