I'm looking for a anti- slice driver, (and the 3 wood i top it everytime) or a course that has all dog leg right par 4s and par5s. So far i've gone through 2 great golf instructors, still no progress on driver. But i'm not given up. I've been taped I've even got to play 2 rounds of golf with a great instructor, poor guy says he has to think about how to fix me. A friend of mine who's been play for about 18yrs, told me 2 things will happen, either i'll figure it out or i'll never will get it. I've been playing for right at a year, but i no i won't give up. I'm 37 years old and i'm a golf addict and that's my story :) .

As so often said, it is not the driver you must change. Any one can hit a draw (well, anyone of normal health and fitness.) Swing inside-out, keep the back of the left hand from cupping at all parts of the swing, and strike the ball with the back of the left hand facing down the line and a little down. Three things. The ball will move right to left or you are not doing one of the things (or more) correctly.

As a kid, I would go out in mid-thigh length grass and swing full swings until I could look down and see the actual swing path that was an inside-out swing arc, how it really was an arc, and the how arc was still going slightly out before it reached the tangent line of what would be ball contact and target line. You don't need a ball, but later a whiffle ball might be useful.

Then it became easy to fiddle with the swing until I could get it so rather than a big hook, it began to be straight. Try the swing in high grass (might not be a good idea in your own yard or a neighbor's, find a meadow somewhere) drill and learn what it really feels like.

My problem is i never release the club, i hit from the inside you can see it on the video. I just never release the damn club, that is my kryptonite. Talk about bringing my morale down.

Then you should work on release, not buy new clubs.

I'm a slicer myself, found the proper release yesterday and my drives went much further. My 8i is almost as long as my 6i was. Holding the release and slicing is losing you a ton of distance.

When on the range, get the feeling of your right hand taking over the left and through and after impact. You'll probably hook the ball for some time, but when you get the timing right, the ball comes off the clubface so great you'll wonder why you haven't done this before.

While I with the others simply because it's the right thing to do, I will also point out that the new Taylor Made R9 drivers as well as the Nike SQ Dymo Str8-Fit drivers might be a good option for you. The great thing about these is you can adjust them to help correct your slice, but are not stuck with a draw biased driver for if/when you correct it. If nothing else this gives you a feeling of comfort. I do not have an issue with a slice or hook, but still went with the Str8-Fit simply because it was comforting knowing I could buy one driver and not be tempted to buy something else if something happened with my swing that resulted in a bad ballflight. I am currently playing with the clubface square, but have played with setting for fade and draw and have to admit it does make those shots easier without trying to force it.

With those drivers at only $300 right now (at least the Nike and the R9 460) they are a good price.

They have grips that help you release the club. I think they are called Release Feel grips . You can find these grips @ online golf shops like golfsmith. Also all the brand name drivers have draw set-up very cheap $130 taylormade burner draw $129.00 @ dicks sporting goods. Last to help you hit draw, put a towel under your left armpit start your backswing with your left shoulder turning and start your downswing by gently bumping your left knee forward and if the towel stays under armpit you will not slice the ball

    • Yea, I think the first thing is to define block, variable, and random practice with regards to golf.  The easiest one might be in practicing distance control for putting. Block practice would be just hitting 50 putts from 5 feet, then 50 putts from 10 ft then 50 putts from 15 ft. While random practice would having a different distance putt for every putt.  In terms of learning a new motor pattern, like let's say you want to make sure the clubhead goes outside the hands in the backswing. I am not sure how to structure random practice. Maybe block practice is just making the same 100 movements over and over again. I don't get how a random practice is structured for something like learning a new motor pattern for the golf swing.  Like, if a NFL QB needs to work on their throw. They want to get the ball higher above the shoulder. How would random practice be structured? Would they just need someone there to say, yes or no for feedback? That way the QB can go through an assortment of passing drills and throws trying to get the wright throwing motion?  For me, how do you structure the feedback and be time effective. Let's say you want to work on the club path in the backswing. You go out to the course to get some random practice. Do you need to set up the camera at each spot, check after each shot to make it random?  I know that feedback is also a HUGE part of learning. I could say, I went to the golf course and worked on my swing. If I made 40 golf swings on the course, what if none of them were good reps because I couldn't get any feedback? What if I regressed?
    • I found it odd that both Drs. (Raymond Prior and Greg Rose) in their separate videos gave the same exact math problem (23 x 12), and both made the point of comparing block practice to solving the same exact math problem (23 x 12) over and over again. But I've made the point that when you are learning your multiplication tables… you do a bunch of similar multiplications over and over again. You do 7 x 8, then 9 x 4, then 3 x 5, then 2 x 6, and so on. So, I think when golf instructors talk about block practice, they're really not understanding what it actually is, and they're assuming that someone trying to kinda do the same thing is block practice, but when Dr. Raymond Prior said on my podcast that what I was describing was variable practice… then… well, that changes things. It changes the results of everything you've heard about how "block" practice is bad (or ineffective).
    • Day 121 12-11 Practice session this morning. Slowing the swing down. 3/4 swings, Getting to lead side better, trying to feel more in sync with swing. Hit foam balls. Good session overall.
