i used to be able to hit my driver really well. but then about a few weeks ago, i just totally lost it. every drive i hit is a major cut. so a few days ago, my instructor told me to try to hit my driver with my eyes closed. and WHAT DO YOU KNOW? i can hit draws and hit the ball straight with my eyes closed. but once i try and hit my driver with my eyes open, it's back to the cuts.

THIS IS HONESTLY SO FRUSTRATING!!!!

wow thats weird. I have always been told that in golf your swinging the club and the ball is just in the way. Once you start swining to hit the ball you lose it. Maybe that fits this situation. Perhaps with the eyes open your swinging at the ball, not letting the ball get in the way of your swing.

Very interesting, I'm going to have to try this when I'm at the range next time!

Is that considered a blind shot, blind drive or a shot in the dark? Have you tried this with only one eye open or just peaking?

I had my son shoot free throws with his eyes closed. I have seen Michael Jordan shoot free throws with his eye closed.

im kinda in the same boat...
when im taking practice swings it feels natural...
then i address the ball and my swing is completely different...
my brother always asks me why i dont swing the same from practice to address and i have no answer... he got me to close my eyes while he teed up the ball and i can kill it while not looking

haha yes i have, only at the range though. i tried with my eyes squinted so i could barely see, and it's better than i hit it with my eyes fully open.

i talked to my instructor again yesterday and he told me what i was doing wrong. the reason i hit a major cut is because i shift to the left before i even hit the ball. but when my eyes are closed, i focused on balancing my weight between my feet and just rotating my body, therefore i didnt slice the ball.

weeeeird, eh? nonetheless, i had a tournament today and totally sucked with my driver
