Quite easily, the most painful three putt in the world.

Rolled a 3 wood up on the green from about 245 out, had a 15 foot putt. Lipped out for eagle. pushed the birdie try maybe an inch right. Tap in for par.

I've got you beat.

This past weekend I was playing and came to the par 5 ninth hole. This hole is only 514 yards from the tips and it was playing slightly downwind.

Kill a driver to leave me with about 185 in. Hit 6 iron to the back of this huge green which has the pin in front (distance control was suspect all day...). Then I proceeded to four putt for bogey.

Weeee!!!!

On the day I still ended up with only 29 putts though!

That sucks. My friend once hit a GIR on a par 3 and completely tanked his first putt from about 40 feet off of the green, which then slipped down a devastating slope leaving an uphill pitch from about 20 yards off. His pitch went over the green. Then he chipped and 2-putted for a triple-bogey 6! It was hilarious!

Hitting par 5's in two and par'ing the hole is not an uncommon thing for me. Sad but true.

This was my dad's specialty.

He has three putted for par on eight of the eighteen holes at our home course. He's probably four putted for bogey on all the par fives too.

only thing worse is a 4-putt bogey

My swing thoughts:

- Negative thinking hurts more than negative swinging.
- I let my swing balance me.
- Full extension back and through to the target. - I swing under not around my body. - My club must not twist in my swing. - Keep a soft left knee

try driving yhe green on a short 4 and four putting!

Yeah... Did that, too. Some small 9-hole course near DC. Down hill, down wind... drove the back edge of the green and then proceeded to four-putt for bogey. So damn painful...

Not to get into an "oh no, my blown chance is better than yours" kinda thing but I have a heart breaking three putt -- given the circumstances.

The wind had whipped up to about 30 mph... On a 428 yard, straight away, par four, my drive was crushed and rolled directly behind the hole (had to have rolled by within say inches of hitting the stick.) Had about a 10 foot come backer and wanted to make hit badly. Hit it a little firm and long, then missed the 4 foot comebacker... tapped in for par. A long, straight, perfect 428 yard drive that resulted in the same score as the guys who hit it 265. Golf can be maddening -- it is always "how many, not how."

Well, you all made me feel better about it.

Its been an up and down week-I've been working on the game this summer. I started at a 28 from last year, with the goal of breaking 90 consistently. Recently, i started being able to get close without playing to my potential-i'd still have a few blow ups and be at 91, 90. Then on sunday, it clicked. Not only was I going to break 90, i had a chance to play my first 9 under 40. Our back is only a 35, and I was 2 over going into 17. All i had to do was go bogey-bogey on two par fours. I went double-double.

Then today, I was stroking the ball, and had the eagle opportunity and the chance to have a great round, and no. Luckily, I held it together after that.

It is a lot more fun now, being able to be made at missed birdies instead of scrambling to make 6s and 7s.

I have been having problems with easy tap in recently missing 1 - 2 footers.
I think what happens for me is that my I get handys and pull the putts. I found that I need to stay with my pre-putt routine so that I focus and do not overly relax and miss the easy tap in that are considered gimmies.

My worst putting display was a number of years ago. I shot a 78 with 41putts. I was hitting the ball pretty good, lots of GnR, but I couldn't hit any putt longer than 20 ft to within 3 feet. Didn't make any putts in the 8-20 ft range and the hole looked the size of a thimble on putts 2-6 feet. I was hitting all my other clubs so good, I should have probably tried to putt with one of those instead of my putter....

I just recalled that my senior year in HS I four-putted for bogey from 15 feet on the 15th hole and would up losing the tournament by one stroke. Oh the agony.
