You don't appear to wrist hinge enough on your backswing...although, it's tough to tell by YouTube videos.

Pretty nice swing though, pretty smooth.

Pretty good tempo, not bad. Maybe a little chicken wing going on but perhaps you are hitting a hold off shot. I like a fuller right side release. You run out of steam just a tad as evidenced by your hips, the right hip is not much more than even and your right shoulder is holding back so extension on the follow-through looks held off. Also, you lose a little spine angle going back and could have a better posture (a little too much back curve,) so you rise up a bit more than I like. Maybe I'm not seeing things right. What is your ball flight?

at impact position, ur hands are flipping to hit the ball instead of a outside in swing with "arms rotating" not flipping... U can tell when ur shaft is in line with ur right hand.

Tempo is a little quick coming down, but the biggest thing I saw was that you're right hand dominant- it's restricting your wriest cock at the top and causes you to cast the club on the way down. You're releasing all of the shaft's energy somewhere between your shoulders and hips.

Grip your club at the head and swing. Pay attention to where you hear the woosh on your downswing. That's the shaft releasing. My guess is you'll hear it somewhere back near your right hip. ideally you'd like to hear it somewhere near your left toe.

Otherwise, set up looks solid.

Small thing, and its a bit hard to see, but I'm feeling like you regrip your left hand just before swinging, and you regrip into a stronger position. Your right hand looks to be too much in the palm, and too much "under" the club. I'm not an expert, but I think you need some work on the grip in general.

Yeah, I see a little chicken wing taking place on video 13 at the 48 sec mark. These videos are going too fast to really see what's going on. What is happening to your shots? Are you hitting them fat, to the left, to the right or thin? The chicken wing can cause you to push the ball and it can cause you to hit the ball fat. I also think that you might not be clearing the left hip on the downswing. You seem like you have a pretty athletic build and many people tend to swing with the arms. I work out too and when I'm on the downswing, I concentrate on the rotation of the lower body and I just let the arms fall and basically follow the lower body. Trying to swing with the arms might cause "casting".

By the way, I think the tattoo on the left bicep adds 15 extra yards to every shot. hahah just kidding.

very little rotation on your backswing to help generate natural power without any effort.

if you were to turn with a club behind your back perpendicular to your body and slowly turn back until you are loaded on your backswing you can generate more natural power with your big muscles. the timming of your swing will be natural and effortless and not forced

thanks for all the advice..

some other info about my swing..

I never ever feel comfortable with any grip, i dont know what it is.. i have tried baseball, overlap, reverse overlap, inter locking, 2 finger over lap...nothing feels truly comfortable and i feel thats the true problem with my swing.

as for ball flight, all my irons go extremely high and straight.

driver tends to play a high cut, my swing path is outside to in, i have tried correcting it, and its obviously still a work in progress...

I would be a single digit hc'r if i could consistently get off the tee, i have no problems with irons, my short game is way above average, and i ama decent putter..

i always play 12-18 over, bogey golf isnt bad considering i just began playin in feb, i have layed the clubs down nearly 8 years ago.. and my first season back i am roughly A 14 HC..

I just have to hit off the deck better.. i spray the driver, top the driver, i never hit the ball fat, all my misses are thin/top shots..

On a side note, i just ordered a bb shaft for my driver and i purchased a lesson pack from the courses pga pro..

I am very athletic, played baseball and football in college, and i think if i can get a comfortable grip and get off the tee, i will move quickly from the 14 hc down into the 7-10 range..

again thanks for all the replies..

Yeah, I could certainly tell you have a pretty solid, athletic swing - with some lessons and more playing you could certainly be a really good player, it's quite obvious you have the ability.

If you're mis-hitting your driver a lot, feel like you're trying to hit 150 yards on the driving range...you're probably over-swinging, which is what a lot of people I notice do, but only with the driver.

Very true..

i have the grip and rip mentality... which hurts mid to high hc's but that's part of the fun, so im never gonna change that aspect.. im always gonna want to swing for the fences per say. I just need to find a happy medium... my swing speed is between 111 and 117... and i hit my pw 140-150 distance isnt my problem, yet when im over the ball i just wanna over swing.. i know that is holding me back... and is the 1st thing i need to correct. "swing control"

easier said than done..

hopefully i will fully accept that overswinging takes away your distance. right not i just cant follow that.. the guys i play with are maybe 5 '9 170 pounds.. im 6 2' 195 formerly a 248 pound d 1 linebacker haha so i get so frustrated when they out drive me.. and even more so what bothers me is that they will outdrive me, and i will hit my 7 iron 160 yards and they will hit theirs maybe 130.. yet they smoke me off the box.. man a live i get mad.. i am very competitive and that just fuels my anger... luckily, as i have stated my mid iron, wedge, putting game is all above par and always outscore them, but it drives me up the wall to be hitting first after out tee shots, im almost always up, whether im in the rough the 1st cut ect.... these guys swing half as hard, halk as technical and it goes dead straight down the center... its really hard to sand at times.. but like i said i score with my mid/short game, i just wanna put it all together consistently and become single digit hc's

Very true..

Overswinging isn't going to do you any good if your not in the fairway, and if your not hitting it on the center of the club face - Driving is the best part of my game, by far...just take my advice and take a little off it and swing at 90% instead of 110% and you'll see better results. It's unneccessary to try and swing as hard as you can at your driver - not to sound like an ass, but it's actually pretty damn stupid...

I could understand if you were in a long drive competition and really needed to get it out there, but that's not what golf is - you mentioned it's fun to bomb your driver out there? well, to me it's not all that fun when I'm in fescue or a bunch of trees on my longest drive of the day. Rather take 10 yards off it and in the middle of the fairway then squeeze an extra 10 yards out of it and be off the fairway.

    • Day 56 - 2024-11-15 Light day. Lots of catch-up work. Checked the grip to make sure I wasn't compensating there, and did a little backswing work.
    • Day 197 (15 Nov 24) - Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management.  Solid round of 83 (41/42) - 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.
    • Have been on a mid to low 80’s roll of late - today was no different with an 83 (41 front / 42 back).   Played in the Friday men’s group outing - blustery conditions in play (wind gusting 10-20; spotty pop up misting rain; temps in the mid 50’s), so it was a good day to work on course management, delivering 7 GIR, total 32 putts - included 10 pars (3 being up and downs), a dbl and triple bogie.  Local course starting to get that winter feel - wet areas wetter, thin grass thinner, greens  trickier.
